The smp is quite easy to setup, once you know where you are with it. and the points from it are a huge amount more. I started folding in Late November so after 4 months, I hit 6th place.

76% of my WP, PC crashed out. Rebooted the PC and SMP client, rejected checkpoint. Starting at 0%. This happens too often, i'm done. Until they build a more stable client i'm not wasting any more of my time.

They do have a more stable client... the non SMP one... hence why the SMP is still beta... and hence why the SMP gives more points, because you get alot more problems...

It says all of that on the links you have to click to get to it...

Just joined but couldn't get the SMP version to work.
The install.bat file seemed to run okay, but then tried running the exe file and it didn't seem to do anything.
    Any thoughts?

I've never had any luck with the SMP client - it's far too unstable.

I'm using the GPU client and it gives me far more points, warms up my room in these cold winter nights and isn't quite so buggy. In fact, I've just OC'd my graphics card a bit which has given me another 200 PPD
