Re: The new Hexus Teams - Setting up Folding at Home
as soon as I've got the system recognising the other core and everything else is stable.
GFX card is already geared up to go, has an aftermarket Zalman cooler on it which should help loads. Then just gotta get the SMP going on the dual cores. THEN get the old box up and running and churning back through the units (gotta work out what the random beeps are for too!) |

Re: The new Hexus Teams - Setting up Folding at Home

No, got the core things being addressed in another thread on here.. got some things to try tonight, or it's another reinstall... not yay. |

Re: The new Hexus Teams - Setting up Folding at Home
i would be folding, but as all the tiny miniscule work units seem to be taken up, the smallest i can get is 1500 frames.. my comp takes around 40 minutes per frame, so it's no wonder the estimated completion date is 28th june... so i think i'll give this a miss untill I upgrade..
you might say - why don't you just leave your computer turned on my answer - it's falling apart, things are breaking in it, can't leave it turned on for more than 2 hours without it getting problems, and its noisier than an elephant singing in the bath.. so i will fold when i upgrade... unless it runs faster on a 486? i'll go check... edit: forgot to add, this was with NOT ticking that 'allow units bigger than 5mb', using the basic single core client. |

Re: The new Hexus Teams - Setting up Folding at Home
righty, righty, righty...
so does the SMP client provide more points? and as such would it be better to run that than running 2 instances of the single core? cos i saw webys points calculation thing and it says summin like 100 points for single core and 1000 for SMP.... should i be trying the SMP again? (seeing as though i've found the download for it now....) |
