Problems with SMP client not closing properly? Deleted work units? Look here

    Bug:
    19) Unless you plan to reboot, when you stop the client with CTRL-C be sure that the processes FahCore_a1.exe and mpiexec and/or smpd have stopped. Many folks are finding that they need to kill mpiexec manually and or stop/start the smpd service. If you restart the client without doing this, the WU may be deleted. A common message is MISSING_WORK_FILES.
    Easy solution:
Save this into a batch file:
    Code:
    TASKKILL /F /IM "FahCore_a1.exe"
    TASKKILL /F /IM "mpiexec.exe"
    TASKKILL /F /IM "smpd.exe"
then to exit, first Ctrl+C then run the batch file. No more deleted work units

Cheers, it was about time... this had been annoying me for months!

Is there a better way to make it kill the processes automatically. This was the only way I knew how to do... Maybe a batch file that runs FAH.exe and then kills the processes when FAH.exe closes? Then you just make the batch file your shortcut for running it and it will close itself properly... This can probably be done in VB script too right? I might try to google around and see if I can learn some VB script to do it...

Oh noes, it doesn't work properly... Although it worked for a day or so, I still got a corrupted unit in the end, lost 60%... I think I am going to give up on the smp until they decide to make it work

The gpu is giving me good points so I think I will stick with that and save power by not trying smp again...

Are you running SMP as a service or standard executable?

Mine will not run with SMP as a service.
As an exe I manually restart the F@h exe once the PC has fully rebooted.

So far I've not noticed any data loss.

Standard client in command window... not sure why it happens to me... I do use a different username for folding as my main username doesn't have a password... could that be it?

Will set password on active user account and will try again..

I use the active user account that also happens to be the admin. Either point could help.
