    Just got a GTX 460...

...and now it doesn't want to start folding!

I'll have a go at reinstalling later, just about to go out now, but is there anything obvious, like a setting somewhere that needs to be adjusted?

Went from 8800GT -> GTX 460 with the latest drivers from the website.

You need the 'fermi' folding client, it's beta.

Re: Just got a GTX 460...

Bah, installed the latest client and it's now telling me that I'm missing some cudart*something or other*.dll before promptly crashing! Reinstall didn't seem to help, I'll try doing it all again from fresh.

EDIT: sorted it, some of the .dlls went to the wrong directory so I had to copy and paste them over. Also, is there any way to stop the high pitched whine that the card emits when folding?

Sorry, but it's nothing to do with the fan, unless you mean to mask the noise by making more noise with the fans.

Regarding the whining noise, this is quite common, and certainly eminates from most of my nvidia cards when they fold, just to differing levels. The worst is my gainward GTX 285 which sounds like a whiney morse keyer when it's chugging through untis. I can clearly hear when it's stopped folding and sending/receiving work units by virtue of the relative silence when the boards workload drops.

Have a read here if you want to know how and why it squeels

its cap noise and quite normal on video cards, don't fold and you won't hear it, your electric bill will also thank you
