Lol, I think you'll still be number 1 in the monthly rankings. My bonus points kicked in too late.

As for being number 1 in the future, I am going to have to start taking some of the servers offline (folding wise) shortly. I think that the current average ppd will be the most I will be able to hit. That said, I do have another 'middle' spec on coming in along with two 'low' spec servers hopefully for this weekend.

Shame I couldn't keep it going for a few months since it would have been nice to catch Lowe up (or even better if the two of us where going together - more points!)

Anyway, here goes for the next couple of days. 3 Million points for me, a few team overtakes and I may catch a few others up

I think he is like me- gets access to 'work' equipment when he can - though I think he gets better access that I do. There is one box I wish I could run folding on which have 4 x Intel Xeon processors, each with 6 cores. 48 cores which following what the other rigs are doing, should crunch a 2 million wu in under 3 hours. I tried running it but it slowed down the databases and VM's too much.

Tatty you need to check out those new 580's, 40W less, cooler and faster.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

For what it's worth, I've now got both the GPU client running and the SMP client running. Should keep my room warm in the winter months!

EDIT: Hmm, not utilising 100% of cores... -smp flag is set, can't think why it's being stubborn :S

Would love to, but I'm broke now. Spent my pennies on the kit I've got, and watercooled it all, so running pretty much at 580 speeds, just on a few less cores. Had to upgrade my power supplies to do it mind, as I've got 850 watt and 650 watt psus in my main rig just to power it all comforetably. There's room for a third GTX 480 one day, but that can wait. Got some serious game time coming up, but first I've got to get a load of work cleared, as well as the stats!

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

SMP client has sorted itself out - just started the third WU. Annoyingly it's running without an overclock because I can't access my BIOS on start up for some bizarre reason and hence cannot turn the OC profile back on...

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

How odd... I'm not familiar with MSI boards nowadays - too many broken promises from yesteryear left me dissillusioned with their marketing claims.

Mind you, when it says something along the lines that I read as "this will make your processor as powerful as the next coming of Christ our Lord" then maybe I should have done a bit more research on other manufacturers boards to see if it were true. Mind you, if it did turn my CPU into the son of God, then I wouldn;t have had the problems that I did have with my water cooling when it leaked. It'd either walk it's way out of there, or turn it into some fine grade plonk!

Are you usign a USB keyboard or PS2? If you're using a USB one, then it could be that in your bios you've not enabled USB Legacy support for input devices. Not sure what they call it, but I've had that problem in the past, and had to use a PS2 keyboard to access the bios so that I can then use my G15.

    Just a thought...

When the next folding stats update happens on the extreme overclocking stats web site happens we will no longer be in 149th as a team! Tonight we take Canada!

Well done everyone! Excellent concerted effort!

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

*applauds* well done guys. I'm afraid I forgot to start off on Friday last week so I've lost a weekend of folding: must try to remember this weekend. How do I get rid of my existing work unit to get a new one (the one I stopped last Monday must be passed its deadline by now!)...?

I thought the system would clear it itself when you restarted it.

I thought it automatically picked up the last WU you downloaded from the last checkpoint and started chugging through that again? Do I need to add an extra switch to the shortcut to make it restart?

That could very well be it - legacy USB sounds like something I'd switch off. Need to find a PS2 keyboard now though!

@Scaryjim: I believe if you delete the "Work" folder then that clears all previous work units.

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Gonna rebuild my server this weekend so I'll be offline on my main folding rigs.

Next mod to work on is to finish setting up the peltier cooling loop on my SLI rig, and then I'll work on getting my server components migrated from the P6T over to my RIIE mobo.

    Server is currently

    Intel 920 i7 @3.6Ghz
    Asus P6T ,
12 Gb (6x2Gb Corsair memory. Some standard stuff that runs at 1600 blah blah blah)
BFG GTX 295 dual card + EK waterblock
    Liteon DVD-RW
    1x500Gb WD OS Drive
3x1Tb WD Storage drives in Raid 5
    Antec 900 case
    be quiet dark Power 750W
    Heatkiller 3 CPU block
Some cheap integrated XSPC Pump/Reservoir combo

and this is going to be canabalised to make

    Intel 950 i7 @ ??
    Asus RIIE
12 Gb ram (taken from server)
BFG GTX 295 (taken from server)
    Liteon DVD-RW (taken from server)
1x500Gb WD OS Drive (taken from server)
5x1Tb WD Storage drives in Raid 5 (3 taken from server, plus 2 new to upgrade my storage capabilities. 2 Tb was not enough!!!!)
    Corsair Obsidian 700D
    Corsair HX1000
Swiftech GTZ recycled from my SLI rig
XSPC single 5 1/4 drive bay res recycled from my SLI rig

Then that'll leave me with a few spares which I'll want to keep, plus I'll have some spare bits:

    Gigabyte GA-X58-UD5 motherboard
Asus P6T Motherboard + Win 7 OEM (legit copy, as are all my OS installs!)
Intel Core i7 920 CPU (retail packaged)
    Gainward GS 285 GTX
    Zalman 550 watt heatpipe PSU

....for ebay to fund my credit card bill. I could build another computer if I split the memory, but I want to set up a virtual server on the "server" and use that as my SQL database training area, when I finally get my finger out and finish all this building lark!

Going to build me a small ITX box which I'm hoping I can watercool, as I've got a GTX 8800 going spare, and a full cover Zalman waterblock looking to become it's very best friend. Hopefully the wife will like that unit enough to use instead of my laptop as a media centre pc.

When that lots done, I guess I can start looking to repair that GTX 295 that I broke (ooops! That was an Oh sh1t moment I can tell you!) and then pop that into my server to accompany it 's BFG namesake.

My room is starting to look like a PC breakers yard!

Why do I tell you all this? It;s friday, and it's after lunch, and quite honestly I can't wait to leave here to get home to get on with it, especially as I will be away all of next week [my dog Ruffus will guard my room from prying fingers... ] so most of my kit will be off next week, except the server, plus what ever my wife uses, so my PPD will drop. I've been trying to get my SLI rig to run a bit coooler, but it just wont run cool at 4.2Ghz and run STABLY, so my vcore is set higher than I'd like, with the CPU topping out at 90+ degrees, and I'm not willing to leave that running unattended for 5 days

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Well perhaps that's a hint tha 4.2GHz is a bit much, surely 3.8 would be more than enough. YOu could get through bigadv units with that I think?

    Re: Folding Chit-Chat

Hmm SMP client breaking my computer - repeated BSODs and then EARLY_UNIT_ENDs even on e5200 at stock settings. Problem with my computer do you think, or flaky SMP client?
