DVD player recommendations. Up scaling and multi region wanted.

Looking for a new DVD player as my trusty old Yamada has finally died

I liked the look of the http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...r/Product.html the USB feature would be handy but not a must. After a little searching, it seems that these players can't be region hacked, anyone know any different?

Also looked at http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...rchtype=genre# Seems ideal, from what I can find, it's region hackable, having trouble finding somewhere with stock. Amazon have stock of the 1080p8/XEU, I'm not sure how this differs from the plain 1080p8, but I can't find any info about region hacking the XEU.

Can anyone recommend a player that fits my needs? I really fancy the sammy one but I'm after one asap.

    Thanks for any help.

They might not be such well-know brands as Toshiba or Samsung (etc)... but there are a number of much cheaper 1080p capable multi-region players
For instance... this Sumvision Phoenix Premium - with USB + built-in Card Reader, for just £26.99 / £31.71.
Scan don't specifically mention the fact it's "multi-region", but a quick Google will show that other sites selling it do.

The Philips DVP5980 (with USB) is also multi-region, and costs £39.98... + £4.95 delivery, if you weren't able to find one in a Dixons high-street store

Brands have never really bothered me all that much. I've ordered the Philips one, matches the telly a bit better

    Thanks for the help.
