Nova DVD Player & External HDD Compatibility?

Ive had a Seagate FreeAgent 500GB usb hdd for a while now, and i recently bought a nova dvd player with usb port for the sole purpose of playing videos off of my hard drive. I tested it with a 1GB flash drive, worked fine, and tried playing avi off of a dvd and works great. But it does not recognize my Seagate at all. Ive tried So my question, is there anyway of telling which hdds will work with what dvd players? or is there anything else i can try to make this one work?

    thankyou so much for reading...

Debang, you should have started your own thread aas opposed to hijacking someone elses for an unrelated subject.

As for the hard drive problem, the FreeAgent may require a little more power than the DVD player is able to provide. Either check compatibility with the manufacturer of the DVD player or use trial and error.

Re: Nova DVD Player & External HDD Compaitibility?

Moved this into a separate thread..

Funkstar is on the money here I would say, not all external hdd's can be powered via a standard usb port as they require more current than the usb port can provide.

You quite often see similar issues if plugged into a non-powered usb hub.

That's a point, forgot to suggest that. If you have a USB hub, put it in between the DVD player and the drive. Might work that way.

Re: Nova DVD Player & External HDD Compatibility?

Good point, like that if it's not getting enough power, you can get a double usb cable to give it extra power
