Its just a totally different machine to the PS3 isnt it? It looks fantastic in terms of gameplay, but I wasnt convinced by the graphics. In the pics, they didnt look much better than the gamecube (which, to be fair is now a £40 machine..) with jagglies everywhere, and the textures didnt look fantastic either.
Are they much better in the flesh? Or do you think the real games will be better? Still, the tennis game sounded fantastic, and zelda too Was Red Steel multiplayer? That could be outstanding if you can really have swordfights with friends Still no word on price or release date? |

That's comming from someone who's not owned a console since the N64 - because PC gamming was just better. Got my DS 2 months ago, will have one of these kickass boxes as soon as I can get my grubby paws on one! ![]() |

Sure the graphics aren't as stunning as the XBox 360's or as good as the PS3's is supposed to be, but the graphics are easily up to the job anyway.
In that old argument of which is better, better graphics or better gameplay, I personally think that Nintendo are firmly in the 'gameplay' camp. Sure, it may not be bells and whistles flashy like MS or Sony but the graphics are more than up to the job, framerates from what we played were always smooth and the real kicker is that we were obviously playing on production consoles... The booth had so many Wiis in it there was no way they were all hand-made pre-productuon units. |

Nick, was there any mention at all of the next in the Mario Kart series?
Did you get a chance to try out the Wii Classic Controller? If so, how was that? |

The holes in the controller are to add in the Nunchuk, or the classic pad or, we think, to have the remote connected by cbale in a 'play and charge' stylee.
By the way, according to Ninty, if you haven't got WiFi in your home, hook the Wii up to the net using a USB network adapter and then you can use the Wii as an access point for your DS Wi-Fi games, whoich makes me wonder, seeing as it uses standard Wi-Fi, if you'll be able to hook other devices up to it too. There was no sign or word of Mario Cart, but there are rumours of a few racing games in the pipeline. We didn't get any hands-on time with the classic controller though... I don't think it's needed for many games as the Wii remote has functionality to cover most games in the Vurtual Console. |

Wow..got to get me one of those..
I was there for the DS launch outside game at 2 in the morning, so it will probably be the same for this. No doubt this will be a sellout console. The graphics don't look too bad, it looks like Nintendo are sticking with their cool sorta cel shader graphics (which i have no problem with ). I think the name has grown on me, it doesn't sound too bad now. And also, the controller looks amazing as well - I am the kind of person who can pwn a fair number of people in PC fps's, but i get the lowest scores on consoles purely because the controllers are horrible to, well, control - so now Nintendo have actually made a controller that is sensitive to just about everything (and can be expanded), it's going to be both more fun and a lot easier . |

I think the main difference is that Nintendo aren't in to flashy models - they are a "cartoon" console - not in to the heavy characters like on a 360/ps3.
Take baseball - if it was MS or Sony they would have licensed it out - the graphics would have rocked and been lush - but they would have charged you more for the game and the gameplay would be the same - not much chance of being better; and the interaction would not be better... |

It's also been mentioned that Lucas Arts have seen the Wii controller, and are serving up their plans for a Star Wars game.

lol, sabreing someone with the Wii controller would be awesome!
oh..and let us not forget that it cost's a third of the price of a PS3 ![]() (how long was the PS3 queue? i was fairly shocked that the video of the Ninty queue took over 2 minutes just to walk from one end to the other..) |

There was *no* PS3 Queue, they only had Dev boxes and a fair few - they had a queue for something but literally no one was in it
