    Ethernet.

    Can my ethernet cable slow down the speed of my dsl from the modem to the computer?

    Assuming its not broken, I wouldn't think so - Cat5 ethernet supports speeds upto 100Mb/s, and your internet connection is unlikley to saturate that for atleast a few years!

    You could probably use just about anything and still be able to send more data down it than your modem can handle.

    tbh garden string is probably more efficent that todays broadband demands from a cable
