|  4GB Flash Voyager Mini Broken? I bought a CMFUSBMINI-4GB for my better half for Christmas but it has recently stopped working. When plugged into a compatible USB port both XP & Vista after a short delay detect it as a 'USB Memory Bar'. Trying to access it using Windows Explorer brings up the message 'insert disc'. I seems to think it's a removable CD drive? I took it to work to try it on my pc there and after being plugged in for a few mins I removed it and the chip was red hot. I can RMA it to Scan but was just wondering if this has happened before? Looking at the stick I noticed it has no way of ensuring you insert it the 'right' way around. Would inserting it the wrong way around in a USB port that has a metal sleeve cause damage by shorting the contacts together? |
