    16G Flash Voyager Problem :(

    Hi,

Had my drive for 13 days (irony?) and every time it's inserted in any PC I get a 'Power Surge on Hub Port' msg, anything I can try or is this going to be an RMA ?

Most annoying thing is i'd just securely wiped my old 4GB drive with a view to passing it on to a mate last night beofre the new drive wqent belly up. now that's sods law!

    Thanks

I have never seen that specific message. You may want to Google. Regardless, if it is defective and your retailer cannot help you, we will gladly replace it for you.

    Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply, as from what I can tell from reading the scan forum they will return it to Corsair anyway can I ask what the UK rma process/turnaround is like ? Just i'd prefer to be up and running again asap (wouldn't everyone!) so if it'll make things quicker to send it directly myself i'mmore than happy to.

After testing it on 5 different PC's and two laptops with the same outcome I can only conclude it's the Voyager unfortunatly.

    Thanks

Our internal turn around is typically 72 hours or less. However, the most time consuming portion is shipping so the speed of your shipping choice will be the determining factor.

I had exactly the same error message when plugging a 1GB USB flash stick into my PCMCIA USB/FW card. The problem is caused because the USB port cannot provide enough power. I had no such problems when I plugged it into the built-in USB port.

Thanks for that post. If I see issues like that in the future, I'll make sure users test both type of ports.

While I agree with you in theory (it looks like a power issue at face value and this was a common issue on older via chipsets including boards such as the VP6 and Tyan dual Athlon boards) but the problem was the drive, I tested it in 3 machines it had worked with perfectly the day before, I also put it on powered hub and two laptops all of wich had been fine with it in the past. SCAN managed to replace it very quickly though.
