    A number of Xbox Live users are reporting that Microsoft has topped up their accounts with 500 MS Points. Trouble is, nobody knows why.

    Just asked my friend if his xbox live account had been bumped up by 500. His account went from 20 to 520 yesterday for no apparent reason.

    I've lost 500 points, had 950, now I have 450.

    Going to send a quick email off.

    EDIT: I lost my points because it was on a points card I got free with the camera and they have expired I bit crap but at least I know why they have gone.

    As for where the 500 points are coming from, I read some people on other forums are saying that it's do with refunding the people who lost 500 points from ordereing GTA from Game but never used them.

    Seems pretty naff that they would have points which suddenly expire anyway, just another way to rip you off I suppose, encouraging you to buy quickly- a bit like Orange always trying to push "free" texts on me if i buy a £4 bundle before such a date etc...

    I've just checked i have 500 points too, got a message through that says

    "Dear Xbox LIVE customer, we deposited 500 points to your account, at no charge, in relation to the GTA IV 500pts pre-sell promotion. We apologize for any inconvenience you might have experienced. Thanks for your continued support of the LIVE experience!"
