I would be suprised if Sony don't drop the price in time for Christmas to boost sales as it's way over priced compared to the rest. I think it will drop to £250.

If Microsoft are going to be selling the Xbox Premium for $299.99 in the USA you will never see it priced at £150 in the UK. My bet is £175 with a game bundled in.

You gotta remember that the US price doesn't include sales tax (circa 8%) so the total price will be about $325 or £163. Everyone knows that you never get the comparative US price over here and £175 seems like a nice round number.

As for the Wii, are you sure that you're going to see price cuts at all? I'm not so sure...

Agreed. All those estimated prices are way too low. Plus i can't see any drops for the Wii, there's no need for them, if sales were slowing up, then yes, but their not. Also Nintendo have already warned the US market that stock may yet again be a little short this Christmas.

Sony have no real need for a drop just yet, they are selling well in Europe, what may happen is we will see some bundle deals coming from Sony.

Go on, you know you want to

If the prices do drop, all well and good for everyone - a more competitive market, and consumers can get more for their money

The problem I have with buying a 360, though, is that there aren't really THAT many games that you can't get on PC that are on 360....

Sure, there was DMC4 (which I wanted) GTA4 and a few others, but if they don't eventually come out on PC I'll be surprised.... afterall, PCs are better than the consoles and so you get the people that want decent graphics buying them.

The only advantages of a console is the online play, as it has no noobs typing away on a keyboard all the time.... but even then, there's still voice chat which can be problematic or abusive.

    I'm not sure.

If it drops as low as £100 I might decide to spend any money my relatives give me for christmas on one, but otherwise I don't think it'll be worth it.

If this happens I will have to invest, I'm sure - got a 32inch HD in the lounge, needs a console!!

Edit - Post above me is right though - Sort of feel like theres enough awesome game-age on the PC as it is!

That's not the only advantage, though it may be the only one that suits you.

Another advantage is that you can just stick a disc in and start playing - it's hassle-free. Another advantage is that it's a fairly compact box that's easy to keep out of the way (and out of sight) when you don't want it but is quick and easy to plug into a TV when you do want it. And it means that you don't need a PC in the same room as your computer, so it means if you want a bit of a blast of gaming, you can do it in the lounge without needing a PC in there.

Oh, and if you have fairly serious uses for your PC(s), it means you aren't sticking loads of gaming stuff on them.

And, it means if your kids want to play games, they can do it without you either letting them use your PC or being on it when you want to browse the web. Or perhaps even being in the same room making lots of noise on the PC wben you're trying to concentrate on something on the PC.

That's not an exhaustive list, but believe me, consoles have advantages that don't involve online gaming .... or having the console even online at all. In fact, being able to let the kids play games on the console because it doesn't have a net connection of any sort is another advantage for some people all on it's own, and possibly a convincing advantage for parents nervous about letting young kids loose on the net.

Re: Headlines - Microsoft's Xbox 360 price cuts to stir Sony and Nintendo into action

    I am a kid?

Letting my kids play on a computer is totally and utterly fine.. it just means I have to let totally imaginary and nonexistant people go on a computer which does exist. The only reason I actually ever bother my parents to get a computer to go on is when I want to go on the internet (as my parents don't want me having an internet conneciton in my bedroom which they can't watch me on all the time.)

I never have any problems installing games on my computer. That's what toilet and drinks breaks are for!

I can see the benefits though... but like I said, there's only one for me, and that isn't really a major selling point of the XBOX methinks.
