Oh no. I curse Sony for their exclusive nabbing and tatics.
But as far as hardware goes it would be tempting.
But no, bad Sony. Bad.
well I was going to buy a PS3 this month, now I won't be just incase this is true.
□ΞVΞ□
Ive been holding out for the Slim version, although with Sony's recent pricing logic this will cost less to manufacture but cost £100 more due to its "premium" image.
I didn't think they would, But I'm thinking i was wrong. I too was holding out.
Ah cool. Was going to buy another PS3 next month for upstairs, think i will hold out a little longer for this now
If the launch of a new sku was that imminent it would have been announced or at least had a hint or two dropped about it at E3 surely? TGS would be the next logical oppurtunity for a big announcement and that's still a good couple of months away, if this is true (which I'm skeptical about to say the least) I wouldn't think we'll see them over here before the holiday season kicks off to be honest.
Well Sony announced the PS2 slim, the PSP slim and PSP 3000 all roughly 2 months before they hit retail, and only the PSP go is a recent model that's had longer than that (due roughly 4 months after announcement) so I'm skeptical that this has much to do with a new model - it could just be a revision of the existing one - but it would depend on what their manufacturing lead time is like.
If a new one does turn up this year it'll make sense for it to be in time for christmas so given their history of doing exactly that with new consoles turning up in October-November it makes it likely such an announcement would be in September at the latest.
Sony have a history of tinkering with their systems, going back to the original PS1, taking bits outs, using newer components. The slim versions ie PSone, PSTwo were very late in the development window and seemed to be a last good bye. IF Sony are going for a newer model i'm not sure its on par with Slim, seems way too early for that model, and i don't think they are in a position to shrink the electronics to the extent that they have done in the past.
Also Sony have taken out a new patent on a revised Cell Processor, this time with full Emotion Engine inbuilt. Meaning full backward compatibility with PS2 will be back on the agenda. Sony need a good christmas, a new model PS3 and possibly the PSP GO could provide them what they need.
Sony need a good christmas, a new model PS3 and possibly the PSP GO could provide them what they need. What could be a major killer move would be to release the new PS3 with GT5. Look what they have done with the PSP GO, GT Mobile to be released on the same day, could we see (pray) to see the same happen with its big brother. I hope so
I have to admit the idea of a slim PS3 is rather tempting - but Sony seriously need to cut the price of the PS3 its just too much! There loosing out on so many customers and as Activision have said there considering not producing the games for it any more! :O
Pittsburgh steelers, maimi hurricanes, Wisconsin badgers, Bristol Rovers, Man United - thats right i love sports
Well the speculation has been added to now, a video has turned up of a unit for sale in a market in the Philippenes, and what's there matches the photographs that turned up back in May.
Just like a UFO sighting, the person in the right place at the right time has a poor quality camera.
Well, just saw this:-

According to this site and article, the PS3 Slim showed up on Amazon.de (Germany), but it doesn't seem or appear to be there now. Whether it's bull crap, or they pulled it down I have no idea.
*Edit, it was via engadet who have a screenshot:-

Those screenshots give the ASIN as B002JM1GPU, and the first result in google for that is the product page, which is dead, but the cached page shows what they have there.
Sony really seem to have lost the ability to keep a lid on anything....
mmm, no - "leaks" are the current in vogue viral marketing technique ...
Not that bothered to be honest. As long as it is out when God of War III gets released I'm happy. Until then no PS3 for me.
