Does the 'counterfeit' controllers use Sony batteries?

Why would you want to use the unofficial controller anyway?

All of them feel rather crap...

Re: News - Sony consumer warning - Your unofficial PS3 controller may explode!

Clever move imo, and more console manufacturers should do this really from a business standpoint. Are people not going to buy a PS3 because they can't use a 3rd party controller with it? No. Are more people going to buy official accessories as a result? Yes.

So at the end of the day this will help sony make more money, and it gets rid of the frankly cheating controllers like the frag FX thing.

Of course there will be a way around it, but I can't really see a negative from sony's POV..

How is that cheating? i agree that rapid fire controllers are cheating but using a mouse is not cheating.

Re: News - Sony consumer warning - Your unofficial PS3 controller may explode!

yes it would affect the eagle eye too.

There is another thread about those kind of controllers..but essentially using a kb/mouse on a console online gives you such a massive advantage over anyone restricted to using a pad, that its tantamount to cheating. Thats why consoles usually have separate servers to their PC counterparts, as the console games just get trounced by the PC gamers every time.

Obivously people disagree about it but thats my opinion. Turbo controllers are also of a similar vein although they don't affect it as much, and are easier to detect in an online match (im fairly sure games like COD say you can't use them online, but don't quote me there..)

I hate the wireless controller. It runs out far too quickly. I think you should have a wide choice of controllers.

What was their reason for using USB in the first place?

Its all very well not allowing this, but it should have been from day one, not after many people have bought many different controllers etc.

Re: News - Sony consumer warning - Your unofficial PS3 controller may explode!

I dont like the sound of this, what is it next? I myself have had 2 ps3 controllers break on me and which is why I got ps2/ps3 converters.

EDIT: I just tried now and they are working for me but I guess i cant guarantee that in ther future
