    X360 pricing?

From the front page of HEXUS.gaming :
News reaches us of 'guestimates' for how much the X360 will cost upon release. According to TheStreet.com, Corporate VP for Microsoft, J Allard has confirmed the X360 will cost in the region of $300 USD.
That's roughly £165... so reasonable to expect a £199 price tag on launch?

I'd not be supprised if it appeared with a £299.99 price tag in the UK.

199.99 to 299.99 is still a great price for the Xbox 360

This consoles gonna be loved by me as its a Media Centre Extender allowing playback of the xvid/divx files and recorded DVD-MS files from when I've recorded TV shows on my MCE system over the network

Hmm... £299? Could be... but then that might mean the PS3 would be in the £350 range...

It could be that the X360 will be a lower price purely to get more people to buy it ahead of the PS3... MS are stealing at least a three month lead on the PS3's launch, they'll want to capitalise on that and get established as the next gen console...

Of course, it all turns on what games support there is, but making it too pricey could stifle the market... especially as they're launching close to Chrimbo.

Yeah, but historically things have tended to launch with an almost dollar to pound parity, It wouldn't surprise me to see it launch at £299 (fleece those that always "need" the latest thing), then rapidly drop to £249 just in time for Christmas, saving the drop to £199 as a spoiler for the PS3 launch.

Nah - with the xbox360 being out quite afew months before the ps3 so they can release for whatever price they want and then drop to say £200 just before the PS3 comes out which will force that to release at low price and then the price wars begin!

Ill be buying a 360 on release, im willing to pay £300.

I dunno, MS will wanting this to be BIG... I suspect a price drop soon after launch and then another one right before PS3 launch... but the first drop will be the biggest, followed by a smaller and more heavily promoted drop near PS3 launch.

Of course, the 'must haves' will get fleeced... and by the middle of next year we'll see both being reasonably priced...

    One has to ask... Nintendo???

I refuse to pay more than £200 for a console so I will be waiting till it hits that price. If thats straight away then all the better.

£149 launch, undercutting both the rivals, then dropping to £99 shortly after?

I'd agree to that. How much was Gamecube at launch?

Gamecube was £130 at launch i believe, as they changed the price under a week before launch, I remember queuing up there at midnight and finding this out

I think it will be released at £199 and drop when the PS3 comes out to try and get more people to buy it.

Well, whichever console you prefer, the consumer is the winner, as MS and Sony battle it out for prices.

BTW, I've heard that the European Sony game developers aren't getting the PAL development kits until february, so I'm doubting the PS3 will be released in less than a year from now :-/

    I hope I'm wrong though.
