Stargate SG1 Game Canned

It would seem that publishers of the up-coming SG1 FPS JoWooD have decided the game isn't up to scratch and have ditched the developers. They have issued a press release stating that they have "lost confidence in their [Perception's] ability to finish this project in time and [to a] sufficient quality."

Is that it for the SG1 game then? Well, JoWooD should get the source code and they've said that if it's viable they'll get somebody else to finish it, but only if the end result will be of a high enough standard.

Bad news that this could delay or ditch the game, but at least SG1 fans won't be disappointed by sheer pap being published under the Stargate franchise.

Man, I was looking forwards to playing Stargate games as well. I think I know why the programmers couldn't get it finished on time. They developed the most life like characters ever and spent all the rest of the time making Samantha Carter do some rather sexy poses .... I know thats what I'd do *cough*

lol not some cheesy platform game but some real action FPS where you can play with a P90, X302 and staff weapons and come out with cheesy 1 liners

JoWood hasn't dismissed the possibility of hiring another development studio for the job, so it's not all lost yet.
Meanwhile, I'm enjoying season 9

W00T!! I hope that the game does get finished (correctly). I have watched SG1 since the first season when it was on Showtime. I also like Stargate Atlantis as well. I would hate to meet a Wraith in RL.

Stargate is cheese, and my god its good cheese.

The baddies, are inept yet evil in demeanor, the goodies with their caviler attitude, a hot shot rookie, playing by their own rules, with the rest of the planet against them.

If the game could capture the spirit it would be awsome. But not since the likes of sam & max day of the tentical has there been a good conversion that truely took the style of the cartoon (or show in this case)
