I dont think they will be shifting many at launch if it does. So it has a blu ray player... the ps2 had dvd playback, the quality of which was all but eclipsed by any dvd player currently on the market at its launch. A blu ray player is no justification for such a hefty price tag in my eyes.

Anyway, I'm probably in the minority but I don't think it's that bad. It's £150-ish more than an Xbox 360 and you're getting Blu-Ray. I know it won't be anywhere near as good as a standalone BR player (which will cost far more than the price premium on the PS3) but it'll only be brave souls that buy a first gen BR player or in fact any BR device until it takes off. The PS3 drive will do me 'til the next-gen format war dies down... which could be a while. I bought a PS2 on launch day and was perfectly happy with it's DVD player (bad as it was, it was better than VHS) for a year or so 'til I made my mind up about a "proper" DVD player.

Before I get accused of Sony "fanboyism" (grrrr!) I'm only a fan of gaming. I was lucky to get a 360 from my missus last Christmas and if the new Nintendo machine is good there will be a visa card waved in it's direction I'm sure.

Let's face it, regardless of price Sony are going to cash in on the parents of the world at Christmas. I know it's not aimed primarily at the kids market but they're all gonna want one. Just how much pressure are the parents going to feel ? Can't tell the little uns that Santa can't get stock or can't afford one.

I think I know what I'll ask the missus for for my Crimbo ! But I've a feeling i'll get a two word answer, first word rhyming with duck.

Even though I am boycotting Sony, I wish there was some way for me to know if there will be a shortage of these. I'd buy one and sell it to some retard on ebay at a high price.

I was thinking more along the lines of buying 1 Revolution and getting a ton of games with it. Of course, if you are a "gr4fiX are teh r0x0rz!" person or a final fanboy, don't bother.

I think there's bound to be a shortage given how close the release is to Christmas. Saying that if I preordered a few with the intention of Ebaying them that'd mean there'd be at least 5 PS3's to every customer

Really true about Nintendo and Gameplay. I spend more hours on Ebay looking for Gamecube games than anything else as I feel so loyal to it as I've defended it so much. Wish I had a fiver for every person that said to me "what are you getting one of THEM for ?" Same people who then went on to prefer playing games on it rather than anything else when they came round.

Although, I got my PS2 about six months after release for about £100 less.

i think i'll aim to get two. one for myself and one to sell at a stupidly increased price on ebay to some desperate parent with demanding kids in the last few days before xmas... ....which will then effectively reduce the price paid for the 1st ps3 down to a more reasonable level....

Id sooner wait 6 months and save 100 quid myself, its not like I need a PS3, and by then better games will be out, and the first ones will be 20 quid second hand.

Im suprised at all the people saying OMFGWTFBBQ SPENSIVE!!! n000t buying one1!!1 - when 400 quid was the expected launch price anyway :\
