The last bit of the article pencils in Emergence Day for November 11th, although that is true for our US counterparts it's slightly different here in Europe.
Our own Emergence Day is November 17th. Highlighted in red on my calender! |

We rolled up to this event with 3 games on our list that we HAD to play...
Gears of War, Pro Evo and Call Of Duty 3. Luckily, seeing as we were early, we were offered the chance to go upstairs and have a multiplayer sesh with the MS guys on Gears Of War.... and it was bloody awesome. First or third person shooters on consoles have never realy done it for me, I just can't ever get past how inaccurate a joypad can be compared with the PC's mouse... but Gears of War just blew me away. It really is very, very good, judging from what we've played. Of course, it's the first outing of Epic's Unreal Engine 3, so it looks the mutts danglies... but beyond that, there's simply LOADS of little touches that tell you this a polished game... the reloading animations, the death animations, the physics, the image effects, sound effects... everything is superb and I'd even go so far as to say that graphically, Gears of War surpasses any first or third person shooter currently out on PC. We only played the multiplayer maps so I'm withholding judgement on what the single player mode will be like, as I haven't played it. I do hope it's good as I'm much more into SP than MP, purely for when my Xbox 360 is being used and when other players are around... If the SP mode is as good as the MP (and it needs to be better to keep the player engaged), then Gears of War just might be the killer app the Xbox 360 needs. |

My anticipation for GoW has reach such heights I'm afraid it can do nothing but dissapoint :/
But hey! Even if it dissapoints (somewhat), Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell are just around the corner for some x-mas R&R ![]() I honestly do hope it's every bit as good as you describe Steven! |
