I cant stop playing LOTR battle for middle earth 2. I used to be addicted to Roller Coaster Tycoon and Goldeneye. Many hours spent playing those.

Thank you for that scarily vivid flashback. The bit where you said 'it would be almost time for the next "turn" and you'd have to do it all again' made me feel a little bit sick.

Oh I forgot about any of the Final Fantasy games...plus Sword Of Vermillion, oh, and Phantasy Star 4 (?). Too much time wasted.

I think one of the main things about addictive games, are those which allow you develop in a tangible way.

Things like WoW give u levels, skills etc, things like Champ Man/Footy Man give you the trophies, players, etc etc, and things like the xbox live system introduce these 'progress/skill indicators' or 'kudos tokens!' to many others games.

The key is being able to compare with friends (or enemies!) things like, im a level 45 Dwarf, or my Aston villa team won the champions league twice in a row. As I say, things like xbox like allow friends to compete with each other indirectly via reward schemes, without the hassle (albeit not much hassle) to arrange to play together.

EVE Online, that was about 9 months but 30hrs + per week (and I work full time)

    Then.

WoW for the last 2 years - ouch. 8hrs per week (I now work FT and have a house/fiance)

Overall most addictive game of all time for me has to be bubble bobble - mainly on the C64, then the amiga - PS1 - Gameboy Advance.

Hmmm what I could have done with all that time.........................

Sega Rally and NiGHTS on the Saturn. Lost months to Rally I expect.

Used to play Cannon Fodder on my A500 hours on end as well.

Man, I hear that. I have a pile of unfinished games. Every now and then, exersise some self-discipline and force myself to finish a game, but it doesn't tend to last.

At that moment, Day Of Defeat: Source still keeps my coming back, as does Battlefield 2.
However, I can't resist GTA: Vice City. Quick to start up, especially nice when you're running the Vice City Deluxe mod....run around, cause mayhem with the minigun for a while...passes the time.
Needless to say, I've not completed that game either!

Paging a Mod - can we get the thread title changed to your instead of yoru - for some reason the notification of a reply to "What is yoru most addictive game?" really really winds me up.
