    Selling PC Games?

I've noticed on sites like Amazon and Play that allow people to sell their games, that there are lots of people selling secondhand console games but for some PC games there is no-one selling them. Is it that case that PC games cannot be sold secondhand due maybe to some use of CD Keys or registering the game to a steam account (for example)?

I have always thought of PC gaming as being cheaper (software wise) than console gaming but this actually makes it more expensive.

    Re: Selling PC Games?

I see loads of second hand PC games for sale in my local shop. It certainly doesn't make PC gaming more expensive.

    Re: Selling PC Games?

Loads of places will not let you sell PC games second hand largly due to issues with copying, CD Keys and online registration..but some still do.

Check out a few local independent shops (some will still buy them) or your best bet is the internet really - ebay or online trading sites.

    Re: Selling PC Games?

Interesting because I have been told that any game that requires it to be registered with services such as Steam cannot be resold as it gets linked to that Steam account. Even if you buy the disk version rather than download it from Steam.

Is this not the case then?

And it may surprise you to know that Steam is not the exclusive source of PC games

Steam is such a useful tool though imo, but I can understand the frustration with the game being "locked" to the account

    Re: Selling PC Games?

I think the steam tie in means I can't sell my copy of Dawn of War 2, which kind of sucks as I'll not be playing it any more as I prefer Demigod.

    I used to play BF3, Battlefield BC2, BF4 and TF2

    Re: Selling PC Games?

I guess the only way to sell it is to sell your steam account? But then it would be troublesome if you had more than just that game on the account.... I guess it's steams way of saying no arbitrage lol.
