For pure flash based time consumption there are few games that can top the Papa's cooking games, the new taco version is very polished and can be found on Kongregate

I play a few tower defence games - Kingdom rush is good fun closely followed by crush the castle and cursed treasure.
There's a game called UpBeat from miniclip EXCEPT, the songs on the new version are rubbish in comparison to the old ones so its better to play it elsewhere even if there are no leaderboards (you'd have to be godlike to get on them anyway).

So guys... I would say THE GRID is the best web browser game of 2013 and is an underground game, the likes of which YOU have never seen and is currently picking up a growing underground following of hard-core geeks and strategy gamers. It's a unique and fascinating experience; and the addiction that people get after playing for a while is no joke. Read the article here on Indie Gamers .com - and then SEE for yourself inside the world of The Grid!
Article: indiegames.com/2012/07/browser_game_pick_the_grid.html "...It does feel quite a bit like a boardgame and generally has you capturing squares, building farms, hiring wizards, stealing from your neighbors, inciting revolutions, forming alliances and even attempting to bless everyone, while fighting to gather all the resources a powerful master of the grid would need."
