Have got the IP but haven't had the time to set it up properly yet, only got home a little while ago and need to go to bed. Will try and get it finished tomorrow.

    Re: Minecraft?

OK, server has been up and running for a bit now and I have been playing from home (just long enough to collect a few things and make my first little hut). It seems to be pretty stable so PM me for details.

Please be advised though that due to the amount of unwanted attention a server could get I will not be making these details public, so if I do give them to you, please do not hand them out to anyone you don't know (i.e. a RL friend who you can slap on my behalf if they mess anything up ). With that in mind, I will only give the details to members with reasonable Hexus standings (not rating, just more than a few posts and I will check member length too).

You sound a bit worried... think you won't make it in?

Anyway, had Disturbed and Bagnaj97 on the server this evening, started making a few houses, some big holes in the ground, some instant-trees growing on roofs and had my house blown up by creepers twice... but so far so good.

Disturbed mentioned a mod called death chest, I think I've heard about it. Might be good on MP since when you die, anyone close to you automatically picks up half you stuff and it can be a right pain sorting out who's is what. So, if anyone has any requests for addons let me know and I'll look into them.

I don't wanna add anything that will seem too much like cheating (like flying or the ability to spawn items etc), and I am only considering death chest (or whatever it's called) due to the hassle it can remove from dying. Thoughts?

Oh yeah, as an addendum to the above, when you are on the server, please respect other people's property and don't take anything from chests or change anyone else's buildings etc. without their permission. Let's make this a friendly place to play and have some fun.

    Agreed.

What do people think to the idea of a welcome pack?

As in its something an op/ Allen puts together and gives to someone who joins.
It can litterally just be a stack of wood to help the player get started.

A welcome/respawn chest would be good, free for anyone to help themselves.

please respect other people's property and don't take anything from chests or change anyone else's buildings etc. without their permission.
what about putting thing into other people's chests and houses?
well as long as they are not arrows or booby traps.

A welcome/respawn chest would be good, free for anyone to help themselves.
I discussed an idea with Allen last night that this ties into perfectly and thinking about it would remove the need for a welcome chest and save Allen some work.

The idea I had was to build a "store" house so to speak.

Basically it will be a building near to the spawn/ houses that holds a large number of chests where people can go along and put items in them. The items can be tools that aren't need anymore because you upgraded to the next tools up, resources you have a lot of or don't need any more.

Obviously with this there would have to be some trust in that we dont want any one person going to the chest and taking everything simply because they don't want to do the work to mine themselves.

Also, I am going to see if I can get a channel created on a Teamspeak server i used to make chatting easier or we could use skype, whichever people prefer.

I've just set up a free mumble server with ukgame.com. IP = 195.90.99.195 PORT = 46521 no password.

As I'm at work I've not tested it yet but I've used these free servers before with no problems. If you would prefer TS3/Vent then there's nothing stopping you

Also when I logged off last night there was a creeper in your house Disturbed.

At work today otherwise I'd already be on there

skype tends to be better quality/less audio issues with multiple people, however TS is far eaiser to just hop onto and doesn't have ther issue that the person who starts a multicall on skype has to stay on or the call ends.
