Re: Whats everyone playing at the min?

    Recentlyish finished:
Dungeon Siege 3 - Enjoyed this, I think most of the bad reviews are down to the apparently poor multiplayer. Single player campaign had a fairly generic storyline but nonetheless worth a punt if you like action RPGs.
Shogun 2 - It's a Total War game, what more can I say? Lots of replay value.
Starcraft 2 - I'm an utter n00b when it comes to multiplayer, but I loved the campaign. The sequels are definite pre-orders!

    Unfinished and on hold:
Started but hated Fable 3 - terrible consolitis (texture flickering, controller references, terrible performance), GFWL
Started Two Worlds II - Jury's still out on this one but after a few hours played it's not sucked me in. Maybe it's just a slow starter...
Played a bit of Forsaken World but felt the WoW-style addiction coming on so I quit while I still could! (Been WoW clean for a few months now but the itch is returning ) FW also felt a little too restricted without spending real £££s

    Current:
Odd round of Sanctum here and there
A bit of Minecraft on Allen's Hexus server
Started tonight on Bastion. Looking good so far, nicely polished for an indie game and the soundtrack's pretty awesome.
A level or 2 of Torchlight now and then

    On the list to play:
    Gears of War
    Borderlands
    Another campaign of Shogun 2

I've had the odd hour on BC2, but at the moment I'm replaying Dragon Age 2 with a mage (on nightmare), complete with patches, higher textures, and all DLC.

The new DLC is brilliant - Legacy. Finished that yesterday.

I got a guide from Gamefaqs with all the collectables - new gear, compaion upgrades, backbags - the lots. On nightmare you need as much as you can get!

The first time I whipped through the story as quickly as I could - in doing that I missed out on lots. Really enjoying it.
This hot girl came over to myspace last night, she twittered my yahoo till I
googled all over her facebook. Ask Jeeves...

Re: Whats everyone playing at the min?

I've just found ways to install Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine, Grim Fandango and Blood 2 on 64 Bit (3 of them have 16 bit installers and wont work on 64 Bit OS)

Been playing Indy most the morning and its as awesome as I remembered all the years ago when I last played it. Controls are a bit clunky but its still a damned good game. Visually its nowhere near as good as current 3rd person adventures but it just has a decent spark that keeps you hooked. Took me an hour to suss and get through the first major level of the game (2nd level : Babylon). Goingt to dig out Emperors Tomb and get that installed this aft so plenty Indy action going on with these 2 games!

I only played The Dig for the first time a year or so ago, thoroughly enjoyed it and its no wonder it still gets talked about.

Re: Whats everyone playing at the min?

    Fallout: New Vegas:
After the enormity that was Fallout 3, I kind of put off purchasing NV for a long time - I was a bit over sated and it took me a while to digest all the Fallout goodness. But then Steam offers roused my appetite again and I've finally got around to starting. It's too early to get a comprehensive opinion, but it already feels like quite a different game - kind of a more normal RPG in a way. The faction system is clear and works well. Combat is at least as good, and freed from the cheesy story of Fallout 3 the setting is much better as well. My only gripe so far is that the world design hasn't had quite as much polish as it needs - invisible walls are used rather than natural obstacles in some places. And it's a little more buggy.

Re: Whats everyone playing at the min?

Yeah ScummVM is great for the adventure games as is dosbox, ScummVM works for things like Full Throttle, Zak McKraken, Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island and the games that have the emotes at the bottom of the screen.

Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine is a 3D accelerated adventure that is similar to the Tomb Raider games except its Indy and it runs under Windows. Trouble is though the Lucasarts games from the 97/98 era used 16 Bit installers which dont work on 64 Bit operating Systems so you cant get them installed to run. Same goes for most of the old Star Wars games like the X Wing series and Ep 1 Racer. However I found a site that has fixed .msi installers for a few of these Lucasarts games.

So I managed to get Indy installed as well as Grim Fandango and they are running perfect!

Grim Fandango was actually easier to do than Indy as its the splash screen that you usually see when installing it and it accesses the disc and away it goes from the desktop. Indy on the other hand you had to copy files over to hard disc, incorporate the new installer then create an specifically named install disc, still pretty easy to do just took a bit longer.

    Great games, fun times again!!

Its not meant to be graphically amazing, it looks how it is meant to look and thats what draws people in. Shouldn't judge a game based on a picture and without playing it.

Re: Whats everyone playing at the min?

Just completed 'Dragon Age Origins' (late to the party!), on the normal difficulty setting. I was surprised to read that in some quarters, this setting was considered to be too difficult for the default one.

The quality of the voice acting really made the whole game come alive. I believe that there were over 100 voice actors (including several notables), which was a QL improvement over 'Oblivion IV'.

I have just started the 'Leliana's Song' DLC and was pleasantly surprised to detect that the main character now has a voice too.

Just had shot of Limbo last night .. loved it
    The only downside being

    no 1 ) pretty short
no 2) bit reptitive in places

but overally highly original and macabrely amusing
