    RTS Recommendations Needed !!

    Hi,
I would really appreciate some RTS recommendations, as the last 6 months I have found my self just playing the same War Craft 3 games over and over, it just hasn't got enough variety to last much longer.
There sadly dont seem to be alot of new RTS's about . I have C&C generals, bit board of that. Anyone know of anything else I may like ? I am a big strategy fan, I need strategy !!!

Thanks in advance for any comments

If you want something that'll last for ages try Civ 3, or if you prefer real time, Rise Of Nations- good new expansion has just come out for that
    http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpage...040.asp?q=rise
However judging from your previous games you may prefer build & attack games, so theres always that new Ground Control Title that looks lovely

    GL on that

I have already played out Civ3, many hours of fun relatively old now though. I tried rise of nations, not really my favourite. I did notice ground control 2, but I am not sure its my sort of thing.

    Civ 3 - aaaaaargh!

Was playing it earlier this evening - got masacred by one guy with a stick who refused to die (6 swordmen, 4 archers against ONE spearman - and he won! Grrrrrr)

This is the one I'm looking forward to: http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/the-lord-of.../521924p1.html - based on the CnC Generals engine, its looking fantastic.

Played some "perimeter" from codemasters, just released - seems OK, but nothing that exciting - might be good for a quick RTS fix. http://games.1c.ru/perimeter/eng/game.html

Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

Yea, I am also interested in Battle for middle earth. Thats one of the annoying things about civ3. I think there is some sort of probability of winning battles each round, and if you lose twice you can be pretty sure that the probability has gone against you and you will lose over and over again. The only way to fix it is, reload . Spoils it a bit really. Because if you dont do it then the game is screwed anyway, as you are at a disadvantage and the comp is always winning.
The diplomacy on civ 3 is unpredictable as well. They go nuts for no reason

Anyway, will checkout out those other games thanks
So am I right in saying there hasn't really been much in the way of new strategy games this year ?

Warzone 2100 - Really old game (win 95/98 era iirc) if you can get a copy of that from somewhere you wont go wrong imo, outstanding game that was for me personally.

Metal Fatigue - This again is kinda old, but i thought it was good. Bascily you build Huge battle mechs and send them to war with each other . Tanks are also available but arnt the focus of the game i dont think.

Earth 2150 Lost Souls- Newer game but still been out about 2 or 3 years now, im still playing this. This again is another great game, especialy when skirmishing. It takes me about an hour n a bit in a skirmish just to set my base defences up. So skirmishes last for ages. Check it out its a good game

These are some of my all time favourite strategy games, but if you try them you may hate them. Its a matter of opinion at the end of the day In my opinion the best strategy game in the past year has been Homeworld 2 for me ne way. I tried the Perimeter demo and found it quite a lame game, and difficult to get to know and use.

Medieval total war was ok. I just think the Total war series is a well design series, but its so good that it doesn't really need the user..... it is happy to just play on its own.

Metal fatigue, yea that was quite fun, I may dig that out again.

I had warzone 2100 for the playstation, that was a good game too, but dont really fancy playing that.

I may have a look at Earth 2150

I would suggest (for the newuns) Perimeter or Ground Control 2

For olduns, I would suggest Total Annihilation (oh yes!) & Core Contingency expansion, Civ 3 or Ground Control.

If your bored of RTS's, and havn't played it before, Total Annhilation all the way (i'm sure everyone has played it though).
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
