Re: GOG to introduce regional pricing

One of the new regionally priced games is Age of Wonders 3 for which GOG is taking pre-orders right now. Some industrious soul has taken it upon himself to compile a list of prices for this pre-order for different regions. Have a look at the result and be appalled. Looking at the pre-order page for Age of Wonders 3 you can see the infamous USD 1 = 1 EUR inequation in its full and unadulterated glory. Brits also get shafted paying what amounts to USD 49.99, but (as is par for the course) not quite as much as other Europeans who get to pay an additional USD 5 just for "teh lulz".

Apparently, GOG was taken quite aback by the outcry of its customers. So much so that the managing director felt the urge to post an open letter to the community. Not that that's made things better. Actually, it's made things worse with regard to GOG's classic back catalogue ...mostly for non-British Europeans. Quelle surprise.

It's definitely disappointing as we'll end up paying considerably more unless there's a way around it.

This is bad news and hopefully people can begin to find a way around it.

Re: GOG to introduce regional pricing

UPDATE: The people at GOG have seen the error of their ways and have abandoned regional pricing. Read more here. I honestly thought it was a done deal, but I'm glad I still can be (positively) surprised.

They haven't completely abandoned it though, you will be able to choose whether to pay in USD or local currency so its a win win for everyone.

Re: GOG to introduce regional pricing

Thank god (if thats the case) they removed/changed the regional pricing. I was quite gutted reading that as GOG i hold in alot higher regard than some other online game vendors. Especially changing it for a few new games that would go back on strong priniciples!
