Re: What games couldn't you finish?

Last game I never completed was borderlands 2. I started playing it after I got my new graphics card and due to me having a cheap PSU, the GPU pulled to much and blew both my PSU and my GPU.

I now have a good PSU and GPU and I finally decided to play it again.

Re: What games couldn't you finish?

I don't know if this counts but with the amount of free time I have vs how hard the game is... I feel I may never finish Dark Souls (and that isn't a problem).

indiana jones and the fate of atlantis... Got stuck right at the end and spent days getting called a "CHURL" before I gave up on it.

I still have trouble getting through the original bioshock. I've tried so many times to like that game but it keeps on being a grind and I just can't bring myself to have fun with it. I think I'll never actually beat it.

Ah, well that rules out most of the games I haven't finished. Doom 3, GTA IV and Deus Ex: HR, I'm looking at you! Turds, one and all.

There are a few games I haven't completed, but mainly because I've left them and simply not gotten around to going back to them, or I've wiped my HDD and not backed up my steam folder (twice) and can't be bothered to re-run through half a game to continue where I left off.

Re: What games couldn't you finish?

Games wot I never dun seen da end ov (with bonus "how I felt" images):

    Oblivion:

That game was magical. I'd watch Patrick Stewart go "Welp, time to start the main quest by dying!", get out of the dungeon, make a beeline for the arena like a man possessed, sink a hundred hours in to it, then NOPE the hell out of the main quest, go play something else, and 6 months later come back to it, only to wonder what I was doing, scrap my save, and start again. See also: Skyrim.

    Lost Odyssey:

Turns out there's an unlock for not ever missing a single collectible item in the game. That I found out about 75 hours in. After I'd locked off half of the world. And wasn't wearing my magic "video game shiny clairvoyance hat" whilst playing. Ragequit inevitable.

    X:COM:

    This guy. F*** this guy.

    Deus Ex:

The first 30 seconds of Deus Ex are very familiar to me - mostly because I play them over and over again, wondering what the hell I did wrong. Then I picked up Human Revolution, which does more or less the same sort of thing gameplay-wise but in a manageable way, and realised it's not my fault.

Any Guitar Hero game beyond GH2:

    See X:COM.

Captain Planet and the Planeteers on the Amiga:

The game of the TV show. 5 levels, each with their own Planeteer, followed by a level of flying around as CAPTAAAAIN PLAAANEEEET himself. Or so the legend goes. Insta-death and pixel-perfect gameplay made even seeing this an exercise in futility. I could beat Wheeler's level half the time I played, and Gi's once in a blue moon, but everyone else may as well have been a bloody Battletoad. The power is mine? No it isn't, Planet. Sort it out.

VVVVVV. Really liked the old-school look and basic gameplay, but it was just way too hard for me.

FTL too. Still never beaten the boss ship at the end.

Wow this brought back horrible vague memories - was one of the games that came with my Amiga A500+ "Cartoon Classics" bundle.

Don't remember the names of the characters - know there was a "Fire?" level first up where the main aim was to get to some sort of red space ship? If you managed to survive that, was there an "Ice" level after, where you could shoot little ice platforms? I only ever made it as far as what I think was the third level where you could shoot hearts out to grow vines.

Harsh game, think the floppy disc corrupted itself in the end so I never got to play as the Captain. Might have to fire it up in an emulator tonight!

Re: What games couldn't you finish?

Most, if not all, of my Gamecube games. With the exception of Simpsons Hit & Run I played mostly for the multi-player or co-op aspects of them - my console being the only one of the 3 at the time that supported 3 controllers easy. As for Hit & Run, that final mission... it's a dosey in a game where hitting everything is routine.

Nah, it just takes practise. Awesome game though - I've logged 300+ hours on it.

Re: What games couldn't you finish?

Manic Miner--- I Tried, omg how i tried, and i beat level 20 and it went back to level 1, WHY BUG BYTE WHY????

its been 31 years, get it sorted already!

Atic Atac - I had 2 bits of the ACG trumpet key thingy, thats it, never finished it

Jet Set Willy 1 & 2 - I refuse to believe anyone ever finished this

Elite - I got Dangerous/Deadly all sorts, never Elite.

    More recently---

Skyrim - quite frankly, got bored, shame as I loved Oblivion - 1000 gamerscore
Dead Space 2 - Hate to admit this, but I did find this just a bit hard, i reckon you need an upgrade path planned out in order to succeed

I complete the vast majority of the games I play, I love a good storyline and look forward to cinematic endings, multiple endings and welll thought out conclusions (looking at you Mass Effect 3). FF7 had one of the best I've seen. I played Tekken 2 to death looking for all the cinematics (get back on this Namco, last ones have been crap).

I especially like endings where the storyline affects it, so you then have a replay value (the last 20 minutes of a game should not determine the ending, once again looking at you Mass Effect 3). The first 2 Infamous games are a good indication of this, but again looking for more than a good ending or an evil ending.

Sadly I fall into a moral quandary when playing some games, i couldnt bring myself to choose between Trevor or Michael in GTA5, although i did save the game, play both endings, then chose the 3rd option
We're only here for the Banter - The Luvvies - Chewin' The Fat

Violence and Lubrication is the solution to fixing everything, if it still doesn't work, you need more lubrication.

My son loves ftl, he's 6 so I turned off the rebel pursuit and its reasonably easy.

Throne of bhaal; I stock piled all my potions in the dension room ready for final battle. Somehow they were misplaced. Needless to say the final battle became nigh on impossible.

That was EXACTLY the one! I was a fan of the cartoon series, so was really confused to see the "EARTH! FIRE! WIND! WATER! HEART!" completely out of order on the character select screen.

First level was Fire (with the aforementioned plane flight/fight sequence), second was Water/ice with jumpy platforms (vehicle section was submarine this time, complete with giant killer fish and tentacles on the bottom that offed you, IIRC).

The third level? What third level? :-D
