I mostly buy through steam, but as others said most physical copies aren't worth much unless they're really rare - as others said donating is a good option, most charity shops will be glad to take them.
I always just keep them, when you trade them in you get barely anything back for most of them apart from a few AAA titles, it's not worth it. Then you can pull them out for the nostalgia in 10 years time
So many games require some sort of registration, that selling games is becoming increasingly redundant. The beauty of Steam is that you should (possibly) be able to re-install your old games in years to come, in order to show your future grand-kids your old-skool games collection.
Honestly I never sell any of my old games, I've kept all of them. While I understand money doesn't grow on trees and you might need to sell them to afford others, honestly you get pennies back for them so I don't think it's worth it. This also applies to old consoles as well
local childrens charitys + childrens hospitals lots of childrens charitys will take them for the unpriveledged kids
After rummaging around in the loft this week, it turns out I put them in a box in the loft.

I would say maybe give it away to friends or people near you , I am sure you would find someone happy to get their hands on them.
I usually give mine away to charity shops , some I keep though , I have boxed copies of the original Everquest game and every expansion I played..those I keep.
Due to the ever increasing march towards games being registered to a specific person/PC, it is evermore difficult to do anything with surplus PC games.
Prior to this trend, I used to donate them to a charity shop.
If it's not online digitally, i usually sell all my old physical games when i'm done with them or before their sequel releases. Helps recoup some of my money spent to put on my next purchase
I sold a few rarer PS1 titles but not many. I have them all boxed up waiting for my games library in my next house...
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.
Usually I would sell them on eBay or something similar. For things like bulk sports game which don't go for much, I'd give them to a charity shop or see if any friends want them. The bin feels like a last resort though. To be honest I like to keep a physical collection of games for console and digital for PC.
I'd look into selling them to somebody else. Although you may struggle with some of the cheaper (SPORTS!!!) games. If you've got a few of them, I recommend trading them into somewhere that does trade in credit, you'll get more that way and can put them towards a new game
I mainly purchase games from steam / download them. It's worth looking on gumtree / local classifieds as you can sometimes sell them for more than you would get for trading them in.
