    Got HEXUS?

So Team HEXUS flew out to Asia this weekend for Computex and some pre show meetings.

We flew from London Heathrow - the worlds busiest airport, to our surprise just after security we saw 2 rather large blue billboards, on these there was a simple quote from a HEXUS review, these are located literally as you pass through security.

So we have done Interstate 101 last year - and Heathrow this year... where next?

We have some better photos coming but meanwhile here is our (in)famous - Tarinder 'Pete' Sandhu with his quote:

So are you guys spending money on advertising our your own to capitalise on all the free exposure you're getting?

Looks like it was just used by the company as opposed to HEXUS having any involvement in it. Pretty good achievement in my opinion.

Yeah, it's all very well having huge quotes like that, but if the person that sees that just thinks "who?" and walks off, it is a missed opertunity. IF there was a Hexus advert next to it, there might be more chance of someone going and looking to see what all the suff is about.

Yup, you can see the temptation of the review sites to write glowing phrases just for the free coverage..

Although being recognised in professional circles as a source worth quoting, most people don't have a clue who Hexus is, so some additional advertising would work wonders. Everyone is looking for an informed opinion on stuff, so maybe Hexus could be the place everyone goes for tech info....but that requires money be spent....

Believe me, that is absolutely not the case here though.

But you're right, some sites and publications do include deliberate 'sound bite' phrases on the expectation of those being picked up by the advertiser and used in the marketing campaign for that product.

But HEXUS has always prided itself on the fact that we tell it like it is and that you can trust our reviews... This is one of those few occassions when a company has asked for use of our copy in their ad campaign.

Perhaps how infrequently this happens is an indication that our reviews are aimed at giving you the truth rather than pandering to a manufacturer in the hope of getting exposure through quotes.

No doubt about that, it's just re-inforcing the URL in poeples minds so that actually remember to look when they get a chance.

I suspect people who get the advert will know what a URL looks like

Of course. But will the remember what the URL is?

How many times do you see a url and think "must have a look at that" then when you get a chance to look you think " oh bugger can't remember it, never mind, can't have been important".

    I know i do it a lot.

Why would you not want them to use your quotes, at the end of the day its free publicity and out of every 10 people that look at it how many will remember it and are likely to look at the site....
