HEXUS.net - opinions :: What happens when BA loses your bag? Pretty much nothing...

Nick's had some baggage woes, and it looks like British Airways aren't going to help any time soon:
I travel a lot - well, a whole lot more than the average person. I'm abroad maybe eight or ten times a year. Since all of these trips are for HEXUS, I often travel with a lot of kit - a lot of very expensive kit.

In the last few months I've flown all over the globe. I've travelled with Eva Air, Air Berlin, Oasis Hong Kong, Easy Jet, RyanAir, Cathay Pacific, KLM, Lufthansa, United Airlines and TED. And even China Airlines - all with no problems.

So when I flew with the "world's favourite airline", I wasn't expecting any issues. After all, this is British Airways - BA - my very own home country's airline.

Typical BA - I avoid them where ever possible after the pigs ear they made of things the last time I flew with them

I'm confused why you didn't reveal the more elusive contents of your luggage...

At least 10,000 bags checked in by British Airways passengers have gone missing at airports since the UK security alert began, the airline says.

FOLD FOR HEXUS! It's your duty.

Nope, but from a tech news point of view there was stuff in there that was just as valuable.

So I've lost around 40-60 articles worth of info and several samples given to me to try out and preview/review back in the UK.

The loss of these is damaging to the traffic and overall return on investment of sending me out there.

To be honest, from how I've seen BA work (not to mention the poor relations they have with their own staff), I would never fly with them again. Shorthaul with them is a strict no-no, and I would definitely not trust them longhaul. I prefer to spend my money with their competitors. My rationale is that a company that treats its staff badly cannot (by extension) possibly value its own customers.

Maybe someone like Samsonite will make a lot of money selling bags with built-in tracking devices, so that lost luggage can be tracked via GPS? That would make a cool gadget for next year's technology show - although perhaps an interesting one to explain to airport security staff.
