Changes to the rules - HEXUS Community

    All,

HEXUS, like many other forums unfortunately experiences its fair share of spam. As such the moderator team do a very good job of erradicating it as soon as we either see it or have it reported to us. Recently we have noticed a new problem and you have all been very quick to report it which we appreciate.

    Its Private Message Spam.

Now this is a much harder problem to deal with as we don't physically see the movement of messages nor their content. So with that in mind we have had to make a few changes, something which will only affect the few, but we felt we should let you all know.

    Private Message Facilities

When you register you will now be placed into the 'Registered' user group.

As the above group does not come with PM facilities you will then be moved to the Registered+ group after 15 posts (this is an automatic process and will happen approx 1hr from your 15th post being made) - you will now have the ability to send PM's.

The standard members group will now not kick in until you have 100 posts, unlike the previous setting of 50 posts.

    Sell your Stuff

The usual 50 posts for classifieds has now been increased, you will require 100 posts to access this section.

All the above is designed to make the place that little bit more enjoyable to use. We hope you understand the reasons for the changes and we hope that these improve your HEXUS community experience.

    Regards

    Matt.

    Sometimes a little aint enough...

Fair enough, sounds like a sensible set of measures to deal with a problem most online communities face.

    Cheers Matt.

I like these ideas, spammers always go for big forums, not much hexus can do about that.

On a forum this size, a genuine member wont have trouble meeting those requirements.

Makes perfect sense. It's refreshing to see a change like this implemented and then actually detailed in full to the users!

Edit: 1500 posts, do I get a mug now?
