Anyone been to Turkey? _ Visa question?
I'm just about to book a last minute holiday to Turkey but just had a quick question regarding getting a Visa and wanted to ask someone that had been before.
Can we just get a stamp Visa on entry at the airport? It does say its possible on the goturkey.co.uk website but I'm not why this is cheaper than getting it before you fly? It's £10 to get it there or £34 here in the UK. |

Or, if you looks at the Customs people the wrong way, they can throw you in jail for ever and ever, and you'll never see Blighty again....
Have a nice trip! |

Re: Anyone been to Turkey? _ Visa question?
Yup, I went last year to Istanbul and when you arrive at the airport, you just show your passport at the visa desk and pay your fee (£10) and that's it really. It has to be in Sterling, Dollars or Euros. Funnily enough they don't accepttheir own currency there (Turkish Lira).
There is usually a long queue though, so when you're off the plane head straight over as soon as poss. ![]() EDIT: All they do is put a sticker (like a postage stamp) in your passport, no interrogation, etc. |

Oh man, that looks soooooo nice.....I miss the sea. Days like today when it's muggy, just being able to run down to the beach and go for a dip....

Oooh, very nice
Lokos great- hope you have a good time.Just a word of advice, the visa is £10 each, but it has to be a tenner each - you can't pay for two with a £20 note (or at least you couldn't when my parents were there a few years ago). I think it's a very convenient and shifty way for them to government to get EU currency into the country, without anyone asking any questions.

Very close, it's a place right next to oludeniz beach and is pretty much down the road from Fethiye. Got a fantastic deal only £460 each for 14 nights B&B, flights, transfers, and a couple of excursions chucked in. Just counting down the days now, 13 to go..........
headbrace - nice one on the £10 information, I'll remember that

Re: Anyone been to Turkey? _ Visa question?
Buy some Navy Rum (80% proof) on the way over as I did many years ago, and when the locals tell you Raki is mindblowing, treat them to some English hospitality and give them neat rum....bizarrely the locals debunked my kind offer of coke to accompany and nearly had heart attacks when they drank some!!
I donated the bottle to them, and believe they would have had some fun times with their mates, in the "manly" drinking contests!! ![]() As long as you don't look German (as I do) you'll be fine, and make sure you talk to the locals around the lake and get some tea local stylee.....wonderful stuff!!. There is still a lot of poverty there, so if you are self catering and find yourself in a bakery with a small kid looking hungry, for 50p a loaf of bread is a nice gesture..........and they really appreciate it!! |
