Question Time: Can you use candles in a hotel room?
Here's one for the seasoned hotel-stayers. Can you put and use candles in a hotel room?
I've got a room booked at the Radisson SAS in Birmingham next weekend as a little treat for my partner and I was hoping to check-in early and put candles around the room before she gets there. It's a non-smoking room but will the candles set off the smoke detectors? Don't wanna scare the poor girl half to death. ![]() I'm sure some of you romantics out there have tried something like this before, any feedback from past experiences?

In america I used two candles in the place of an infra red sensor for the Wii and had no problems.

just don't blow them all out at once and you'll be fine!
But how many candels are we talking about, if its < 5 i doubt they'd kick up a stink, if you spill any, then they will probably wax lyrical about how hard it is to clean and charge you for the priveledge.

be carefull, they sell smoke detectors that also detect the flame from a lighter, so you could empty the hotel :s

I'd just ask at reception when you check in. May well set off the fire alarms.

Right - dodgy Indian restaurants near me have fake candles that look good (they're lights but covered) Get some of those in!

0iD, I thought about asking the hotel but I figured they're likely to just say no and sight health and safety as the reason.
GoNz0 has gone a good way to putting me off the idea! hehehe Animus, I reckon I'd go with 5-10 candles. They'll only be the small ones, you know those you get in packs? Like so: |

Re: Question Time: Can you use candles in a hotel room?
Nuts to that, just go for two big ones, the flame is normally the same size, but it looks more impressive than 10 little ones.
Other option is always the bathroom, floating candles, most bathrooms tend to not have vapour sensors even, as showers etc would mess them up. Or just go for the old faithful rose petals. Problem is they stick to the skin, and can venture places they should not.

Oh dear oh dear! There should be a timer on all HEXUS threads to show how long it takes before it goes off track
![]() Animus, I've already got the rose petals mate. Think I might just go for the rose petals in the room and candles in the bathroom approach. Sounds a bit risky with candles in the room!
