Do you send out Xmas cards?

    Hi All,

Just wondering how many people here make the effort to send out Xmas cards? Personally I don't for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I'm lazy I just can't be bothered to send out a load of cards to people I rarely speak to that get chucked in the bin come 1st January 2008.

Secondly, I prefer to put the money into what I personally believe (which doesn't mean I'm right) is a better cause. I give a sum of money (usually an hours worth of wages) to a charity instead so I know that I've made a small difference somewhere along the line. The place I used to work did this as well. They told all their customers that they wouldn't be sending out Xmas cards, but would instead be donating toys/games etc to a local childrens charity which for me was a much better use for £££'s they would usually spend.

I'm thinking I might send out some e-cards this year or something as a halfway house so as not to offend too many people Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Xmas cards or anything, there's nothing to stop me doing both, but this way I have an excuse for not sending them out

So what do you lot do?

Re: Do you send out Xmas cards?

I am thinking of doing a donation to a charity instead of Xmas cards for my friends on email. This year will be Welcome to Pets As Therapy as I have recently qualified as a volunteer with the cat.

I send cards to my more elderly family though as they double as Birthday thank-yous

(which reminds me, I need to do them)

Re: Do you send out Xmas cards?

People would be lucky to hear me say "merry christmas" to them, let alone getting a card!

Re: Do you send out Xmas cards?

I don't do so anymore. I came to the conclusion that the cards end up in the bin and are generally a waste of time. Or maybe I'm just getting grumpier with age.

Re: Do you send out Xmas cards?

I'm really bad with cards. I have a habit of buying them and not getting round to sending them. This applies to birthdays as well as christmas.

So really, although I always intend sending cards out, i never get round to it.

I never get any either, so I think it's fair game

Re: Do you send out Xmas cards?

Christmas cards, not Xmas cards, but that's another thread. We give to friends who live away and family.

My firm stopped giving cards a few years ago and instead we make a donation to charity.

Re: Do you send out Xmas cards?

Maybe you are all miserable middle class types who don't talk to your neighbours, but on my street everyone sends a card to everyone else, pushes it through a few days before Christmas, so you can't be the only one who doesn't.

Its 50p for a box of 7 billion if you really want to get cheap ones...

Moaning about Christmas, moaning about fireworks on November the 5th. Are you all 75 years old?

Re: Do you send out Xmas cards?

Eh? Now we live in a right posh area everyone gives cards to each other. I CBA, but the Mrs signs for both of us.

'Xmas' is not a denigration - look up its origin - but I use it religiously because it irks xtians who believe it is.
