John Lewis using downloaded movie rips to show off their macs

So I was in my local John Lewis store a week or so back, and I was checking out there new little Apple mac area. Which had lots of macs on display, with some desks setup and other accessories. They had also wall mounted some iMacs. Imagine my surprise when getting closer to on of them to see Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Mans chest ripped by Axxo playing.

I took a few pictures as it greatly amused me. I wonder if head office knows about this...

    Quick shot of the display:

Yup no mistaking where this came from:

Overall shot showing the iMac in the display:

    Pirates!
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

Wow - is this for real? You should submit this somewhere as I would consider this definitely news worthy considering all the crap we have to put up with from content owners regarding their rights to what we pay for etc.

Yup no joke, couldn't believe it myself either. The display for macs has only been up a few months so I thought I'd check it out whilst my partner was finding some bits in John Lewis.

I thought I should take some pictures or no one would believe me

Edit: I should note the pictures were taken on my mobile, the only editing I did on them is to resize them to 800x600 and rotate one picture. Just before anyone claims I photoshop'd them (My ps skills aint that good believe me hehe)

Gordy - which branch was it? You gotta name and shame them! I'll submit to the Inquirer if I get the chance.

EDIT - nice irony as well since Apple are not exactly shy of hoisting DRM on people...

Its the Bristol one up at Cribbs.

I would be very very surprised if either John Lewis management or Apple had any involvement in this. I'd bet on a poorly trained member of staff.

Yep I'd name and shame them. Someone will be in for a mighty rollicking. One good thing about all these pirates multiplying is that we'll see the world cooling now. Yarr!

trained well enough to use a torrent program.. cant see anyone in pcworld being that knowledgeable. they would end up putting the disc in upside-down and calling it a job well done
