    Turing

Anyone who has an interest in Alan Turing, either because of his work in WW2 OR (more for HEXUS) his amazing brain and his wild thoughts on Artificial Intelligence, may love this site.

    Alan Turing - Home Page

I have been reading Andrew Hodges book (from a series about Philosophers) and apart from my brain melting to cream cheese and having to re read EVERY PAGE about 6 times, it is interesting beyond almost anything I've pushed myself too for years.

Bookmark it, and come back to it many times....this thread will sink to the bottom soon, but it IS worth your time, and so was the great man himself.

I think that a lot of AI programmers, especially for gaming software, could find depth here in Turings brain.

I am currently reading his biography *

And yes, it is a bit of a cream cheese book That man was an utter utter genius.

(and the current generations should thank him dearly for that tbh)

Thanks Zakky, I'll have a look.

EDIT: *I think we're reading the same book. It is rather heavy going sometimes. But so totally fascinating.

I've not read the book (yet) but you're right about his genius. Where're the people of that sort of calibre these days, eh?

Also, if you liked that, this Amazon.co.uk: Surely You're Joking, Mr.Feynman!: Adventures of a Curious Character: Amazon.co.uk:: Ralph Leighton,Richard P. Feynman is worth a look. Also a genius on so many levels.

this one Tiggs? Its only small but it's taking me a long loooong time. I have to re read each age soo many times but it's worthy. I was thinking Agent might need to start looking into this, cos he's into programming games I think.

Yes, but I've got a different cover on mine... its definitely an Andrew Hodges book.

A friend of mine is a huge fan of thse kinds of books. Got me to buy a book about Schroders Cat a couple of months ago. Not read it yet.

Might have to give that one a try too.

Sounds interesting, I should get that and add it to the list of interesting books I've yet to read. It was a tragedy that he ended up going in the way he did, and so young.
