Gadgets that you've totaly wasted your money on.
As per the title, what gadgets have you bought in the last 18 months or so, that where a total complete and utter waste of money. You might still like the gadget, or you might not, but either way its not getting the use it should for the price, or does little that the previous one did.
So too start Samsung Q1 Ultra - £700 A great peice of kit, just CPU bottlenecked to hell. Bought one the moment i could find one in the UK, have barely had it on for 70 hours. As it stands i only use it when i'm going on long (2hour +) journies. If on the CPU was better, or i needed one.

My bike actually, I bought it to replace one that got damaged in an accident but since I changed jobs I've barely used at all

Gotta be the little Nanocopter I got at Christmas, the damn thing just will not hover or fly in any sort of a controlled fashion

Gotta be my two ForceFX light sabres. They're super cool but I've yet to run into any Sith lords to make them really worth using.

I bought a PSP the week they came out, then barely touched it for months. That was an impulse buy. Sold it eventually though!

Re: Gadgets that you've totaly wasted your money on.
Might be more than 18 months, but i bought a Qnap TS-101 for running SlimServer. Too inflexible and slow. Still useful though so I might make use of it yet, or fine another home for it.
My media PC. Should hvae built a C2D box as opoosed to AM2 and should have gone with PCIe instead of PCI and AGP. Can't get it reliable, I suspect the Hauppauge Nova-T 500 is to blame (either that or conflicting USB drivers). Bought a SlimDevices SliMP3 and a SqueeseBox 2 form a couple of guys, they are in a cupboard. Bought them because i can't help collecting things. Will use them eventually though

Panasonic 3DO Atari Jaguar Nova T 500 MCE - need an antenna installing in my room now I've moved it ![]() 2 x 500Gb hard-drives - need a spare 30 mins to shut PC down, install drives and format. Arctic Freezer 7 Pro - As above - need a scheduled down time. Strobe lights in the PC Funky colour CCFL changing Fans and even a fan that displays temps.

Re: Gadgets that you've totaly wasted your money on.
Lol... this is where I shine...
tablet pc - don't use it, sits here doing nothing - £1200 2 PSPs, 1 black and 1 white - don't use it, sits here doing nothing - £300 Heart rate monitor - don't use it often - £80 50" plasma tv - gets used a lot but was bought years ago when they were too expensive - £5000 super.fi 5 pro iem - use these a lot and love them, but I shouldn't spend money like this - £130 *Will add to list when I think of more... I like my powerball actually, but only use it about once a month, usually when a visitor asks what it is... Last edited by SiM; 06-02-2008 at 12:18 PM.. |

Re: Gadgets that you've totaly wasted your money on.
Add Nintendo Wii to my list too, I bought it just cause it happened to be in stock. Sold it shortly after due to minimal usage. Back then it was an impulse buy, now it seems like an impulse sell as there are actually games I want to play on it now.
I've got a Powerball too, I've hardly used it but then, I don't know how either. What the devil do you do with it?

Re: Gadgets that you've totaly wasted your money on.
That's amazing shame there would be no way of synchronizing it with flash bangs when you play counter strike
![]() For me it's my surround sound speakers, i use them occasionally but they have an annoying background hum when switched on which puts me off using them, it may be the power supply creating electrical noise but i'm not sure.OT: dammit i'm typing coursework at the moment and i can't help hitting ctrl+s whenever i type something, even though it doesn't work in firefox
