Recycling colection from a business premeses - How much is this gonna cost?

    Hi guys,

Our boss has asked my to look into "greening up" the business. And I've got a few questions about recycling, if anyone can clarify or make suggestions that'd be great.

What we'd like is Kerbside recycling for at least paper, and preferably Ally cans, plastic bottles, glass and cardboard. But (and it's a big and predictable but), the boss doesn't really want to pay much for it.

So... How does rubbish collection from a business work? As I understand it the council collects domestic rubbish (and in turn we pay our council tax), but they don't have to collect business rubbish? So if we're already paying one company to take stuff to landfill, we may not have to pay much more for a different company to take some for recycling, and the rest to landfill.

    Anyone have any experience?

As for greening up the rest of the company, we're pretty good on some fronts, but our biggest naughty is leaving computers on unnecessarily, because occasionally we need to work from home out of hours. I've got a plan involving setting up wake-on-lan which should help with this.

Cheers for your help - Andrew.

Give a call to whoever does your waste collection at the moment, they may be able to give you a quote. Otherwise just look in your local business phone book.
