Bubblewrap inside a PC
Not when it's on, I hasten to add.
Would any damage be caused by putting some inside during transport? As I mentioned in a previous thread, I'll be going to Germany next week and will be having my PC sent over with UPS (my dads company has a contract with them so can get quite a large discount). I'll obviously be wrapping it up reaaaaally well, but I'm worried that when it's banged about a bit the massive Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7 will get damaged and may fall off so I'd like to put some bubblewrap inside so it isn't able to move. I could just take it off but I had trouble getting it on in the first place so I don't want to if possible. ![]() To get an avatar requires you make 500 sensible posts.....yet still people ask so why do I even bother having this here! |

Re: Bubblewrap inside a PC
htid,
There shouldnt be any issues putting bubblewrap inside the pc as it will just help protect them from possible knocks from the couriers. |

Re: Bubblewrap inside a PC
Wouldn't there be a risk of static?
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

Re: Bubblewrap inside a PC
i would take the heatsink off to be on the safe side, an hours messing about inside the pc and a few small cuts is better than a trashed pc and a 3 month wait for ups to stump up nowere near what the pc is worth.

Re: Bubblewrap inside a PC
I would seriously consider stripping out all components from the box (apart from motherboard) and taking them with you in your hand luggage..
I took my PC with me when I moved to swtizerland for my placement, and got it all there in one piece..took all the parts out, packed them securely and took them with me on the plane. The case went over with motherboard inside it via post, and arrived intact..however I dread to think what would have happened if I had left bits inside of it. Couriers have a habit of chucking boxes around and dropping things, so your likely to have bits fall off or break if you send it all togeher. Get someone to help you when your in DE to put it back together if your struggling -sure there will be someone who can help Will also reduce the cost even more if your taking out a bunch of heavy stuff.

Macbook, 1.8ghz Core Duo, 2GB Ram, Superdrive iPhone 2G 2.0.1 "Is it a coincidence that an anagram of gordon brown is "born do wrong" ?, I rest my case. |

Re: Bubblewrap inside a PC
I wouldn't ship it assembled.
At the least take it apart, wrap each part up (Put each part in a normal anti-static bag first) then place them back in the case. Put news paper in to make up the additional padding. If you need some anti-static bags, I may have some you can have
