Planet Rock... the end may be nigh!
I didn't know this until today, but apparently, there is a chance that Planet Rock may stop broadcasting unless someone buys it
![]() That would be such a shame! It's a great radio station, and one of the reasons we bought our digital radio!!!! Save Planet Rock Radio Station - The UK's Only Classic Rock Radio Station ![]() I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking. |

Re: Planet Rock... the end may be nigh!
hmmm ultra low bitrate music.
Greed has killed any chance of DAB, squeezing too many channels into too little space results in crap quality. Why cry over the loss of one of them.

Re: Planet Rock... the end may be nigh!
Me neither.
Because if you like that genre, the station is unique, and superb. Bit rate, especially given the recording quality of some of the material, is not the killer issue. Yeah, higher would be better, but for background rock music, Planet Rock is superb. I don't listen to the radio much, and especially not recently (for several reasons) but when I do, it's usually either Planet Rock or Classic FM (depending on mood).

what i was meaning is loosing one, is hardly a bad start! Loose all DAB and replace them with something much better.

Out of interest, how can it be the "only" rock station? There's Virgin Classic Rock for a start and that's on DAB as well

I didn't even know this station existed until now, and the online stream doesn't sound too bad either. I would listen more if only I had DAB...

Re: Planet Rock... the end may be nigh!
They've been mentioning it on Planet Rock for ages. Shame, but can't listen to it for too long. Like Alice Cooper when he's on tho.
I also listen to SnakeNet Metal Radio - Home of the Metal Nation! from time to time. |
