I don't know how likely it is to work, but it's an interesting idea. I think there is still a thrill to actually being in the same place as the musicians you're watching, so I think you have to come up with something a bit different than just "here's a projection of the band" - after all, DVDs pretty much have the same thing going for them. Not that I think this is a bad idea, top marks to the chap for thinking in those terms, but I think it might need a little additional pzazz of some form.

No, not on their own. But it quite a cool way to push the issue (and to advertise their band).

    Nice band promotion =)

I, the front man for the super famous, super successful and influential and awesome exciting LA rock band, "System of a Down", with a fantastic new album in stores now!, would like to say that we really care about our environment and carbon hand prints or something.

He'd do as well to reform system of a down if he's that concerned, that would make a bigger dent in carbon emissions in theory, seeing as both he and scars on broadway are off on tour this year.

You don't know who system of a down are do you?

    a) they're on hiatus, they don't have a new album written let alone due soon.

    and

    b) they aren't motley crue and as a result I'd say they know what a carbon footprint is.

No, virtual tour doesn't come anywhere close to the real thing. If you can afford it then why wouldn't you travel to the actual location?

Serj from system of a down is a comitted (as far as I know) to human rights and other causes. Same goes for Tom Morello of rage against the machine (who I'm going to see at leeds fest )

Personally I think it would work well as a £5 digital download, would be a lot cheaper than going to the gig, and if the sound quality was good it would be probably quite interesting

Just taking the mick man, any excuse for a pop at motley crue, I like to think every time I take a shot at them a pair of ears is saved, its good to have a purpose and the trains have stopped running so I can no longer point out the faults of others at length in a public forum larger than this

Woot!!! another hi-profile propoganda session that won't do much!

Maybe he should become the next British Prime Minister. I'm sure he'll do just as well as the current one...
