I was just reading a thread here about the iPhone for £169 iPhone £169!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Someone was saying: If so and so... "Apple would become as popular as microsoft overnight". It's obvious he prefers Apple over Microsoft, but I thought it would be interesting to find out what others on here think... I personally don't like Apple, so my vote (if I can vote on my own poll) is for Microsoft. |

Re: Which company do you like the most (or hate the least): Microsoft or Apple?
I don't care either way really
Both have their advantages and disadvantges Apple have good logical to use products, iPods are versatile now, and the iPhone takes a good look at HCI on the go Bad: gaming support, pricing of products for the most part Microsoft have a good gaming platform as far as choice of games go, a wide range of available 3rd party software that is easily available Bad: security and some incompatibility issues |

I think MS make decent easy to use operating systems even if they are overpriced. Apple just overprice everything.

Re: Which company do you like the most (or hate the least): Microsoft or Apple?
Macs are just too overpriced. I despise their advertising and marketing, and a genuine dislike for their shiny overpriced products. Not to say that they're not good, but I don't believe in such a premium for . . . well, not a lot more computer really.
I can't say Microsoft build a more solid operating system, or provide better software/hardware, but I find Apple that detestable I have no choice. There are plenty of reasons to hate Microsoft as well, but for the most part they don't bother me as much as Macs. Having said all that, I would consider the Intel Macs should I ever need to use a Mac on a regular basis (quite probable seeing as most of my course is based on using the frikkin things) so I can use either Mac OS X or Microsoft Windows. |

Well, I've only ever used Microsoft... and they're generally ok for me, although when it does cock up, it does it big time.

I like Apple more than MS. Linux doesn't really come into it, as then we'd be comparing Operating Systems.
I like Apple because they have great user interfaces with intuitive features. Unfortunately, it's now just as cool to own Apple's stuff as it is to bash it without justification. |

if apple made a version of osx for"general" pc's, perhaps more people could make better judgements, until they do there on - points

I hate Apple for their marketing and exclusive patents. I'd put them in the same league as Norton for marketing - it's a pretty brand that everyone recognises. I could never like a brand of anything that spend so much of their budget on marketing - that's why they're over-priced.

Re: Which company do you like the most (or hate the least): Microsoft or Apple?
MS OS > Apple OS. Fact.
Just look at the statistics. Alright, Windows will always be ahead now due to the fact it's been so widely used for so long meaning people need their Windows programs. But still, more applications are available that people know and love, that makes it better ![]() Can I borrow someone's flame shield please? [Edit] Found one ![]() ![]() No, I'm not a Microsoft fanboy, I'd use a Mac if it had what I need on it, no problem. I use Linux as well for servers etc

Re: Which company do you like the most (or hate the least): Microsoft or Apple?
![]() What he meant to put was APPLE OS > MS OS Just kidding. I had always used MS up until last year and at one point would probably find myself slagging off Macs to people who used them. I think to many people on here they will be to quick to judge and just say how they hate mac's when they have never used one. OS X is a fabulous operating system, its far far better than XP and Vista(from what I have seen of it) When I got my first mac I installed XP on it because I thought I probably wouldn't use OS X much but ended up getting rid of XP within a month. However, The reason you pay a hefty premium on an Apple computer is because of the well thought out designs and small features that make life easier and the whole experience a lot nicer. There are a few companies selling computers with OS X installed. So you can pick up a cheap machine running the apple OS. Personally I wouldn't buy one. My new Mac Pro is powerful and because of a well thought out component layout inside, every thing is nice and cold and its dead quiet, I can't even hear the machine on when I sleep. I am convinced if you tried to build a PC that was as powerful and as quiet you would spend a lot money than I did. Plus there is not much you can do on a PC that you can't do on a Mac. |

Re: Which company do you like the most (or hate the least): Microsoft or Apple?
Dont care but if i would have to pick one i would say MS
There is no such thing as best only better for your needs. And thats were the major difference is in this case. Apple have a better OS without a doubt but its designed to a smaller variety of hardware and has to care for the needs of fewer people. I guess its like comparing Tesco with your favorite Local store. Plus you better feel the difference when you go from a 400£ PC to a 800+ MAC. Last edited by Mama Sumae; 22-04-2008 at 03:19 AM.. |
