Appetite changes and the trauma that ensues.

So i leave the office to go to the closest Sainsbury's feeling ridiculously hungry, so i do what any good male would, and buy A LOT of food. 4 sandwiches a large fresh fruit thing and 2 BIG bags of crisps to be exact. Walk back to the office with the feeling and sole intention of gaining weight.

Get back to office, sit down, devour 1 sandwich and im full!

Now why does this happen, i've walked a max of 800 yards? How can this make a difference? I'm currently sat feeling bloated and thoroughly cheated by my body.

    Woe is me!

Your stomach is obviously quite small, speaking from someone who can't gain weight either, its not about eating lots at one sitting. Its about lots of food all the time. Think how fat people get fat, its the inbetween snacks between meals that usually are the worst.

Starting early with breakfast, then trying to eat a piece of fruit and a chocolate bar or crisps before lunch. then eat your sandwiches etc

But at the end of the day my body regulates itself to my current weight.

Sometimes you just have to accept thats the way your body is.

It's usually a sign that you were unsure about what you wanted to eat, by chance the first sandwich you ate was right and thus you decided then that you needed no more food.

I fold for Hexus, do you?

Same problem here too, cant gain weight at all, even though i eat crap and quite alot of it. Of course i eat the good stuff within that, i just love snacks

Eating more servings of avg portions is supposed to be the way to go but its sometimes hard to stick too when your busy :/

Speaking as someone who is overweight, my normal problem is eating at irregular times. This screws with your metabolism and means that you often loose the concept of full or empty. In a typical day, I may only eat 1200 calories BUT I couple this with eating some days 6,000 to 10,000 calories. Since I have no concept of full any more, this means without a food diary, I was blissfully unaware of what I was doing.

I'm fortunutaly or unfortunately depending on perspective a person who has Hypothyroidism. Which means i have to take pills to regulate my metabolism. Therefore it's pretty hard and or easy for me to gain weight.

The actual point of my post was to understand how someone such as myself (who has what would be considered a large appetite), feel that hungry, but after a brief walk and a sandwich, feel full?

Eating between meals is good actually. Eating more isn't. Its better for metabolism to eat 6 half meals a day rather than 3 full meals

    Nick: "Hi everybody!"

Homer and Bart: "Hi Doctor Nick!"

Nick: "Now there are many options available for dangerously underweighted individuals like yourself. I recommend a slow steady gorging process combined with assal horizontology."

    Homer: "Of course."

Nick: "You'll want to focus on the neglected food groups such as the whipped group, the congealed group and the chocotastic!"

Homer: "What can I do to speed the whole thing up, Doctor?"

Nick: "Well...be creative. Instead of making sandwiches with bread, use poptarts. Instead of chewing gum, chew bacon, ..."

Bart: "You could brush your teeth with milkshakes!"

Nick: "Hey, did you go to Hollywood Upstairs Medical College too? And remember, if you're not sure about something, rub it against a piece of paper. If the paper turns clear, it's your window to weight gain.

Made my afternoon, the mental image of that seagull crashing into the semi-opaque wall of the crusty burger will keep me going until 4.30pm. Nice one
