Best way to move LCDs, anyone?

    Hi all,

Got accepted for a new job, and will be starting end of June. Moving from Newcastle to the outskirts Birmingham (around Solihull, but still havent firmly decided yet).

Any ideas how I'm gonna shift a 32" LCD and 3x 17" LCDs without scratching them to death? My intial ideas are to cover the screen with some light cloth then lots of thick bubble wrap afterwards.

Also any suggestions for Van hire companies? Might be simpler just to hire one an be done with it.

    Suggestions welcome!

    Doh,

I just had a major clearout and got rid of a load of boxes for TFT's (37", 22" and below)

When I moved house - although it wasnt as far as you I literally just made sure the screen were protected (wrapped in a duvet) and then loaded them into the van last

I usually tape a few sheets of thick cardboard to the front of the screen

think thats probably the best way, the 17"ers certainly should be small enough to move about with no problems

Pick up the iMac G5 by grasping both sides of the computer. Carry it to wherever you wish.

Educated fool siggested cardboard, otherwise cut a shhet of hardboard to the size of the surround and tape that to the display. The cardboard boxes protected by leaving a large air gap between the wall of the box and the screen. Cardboard will protect against scratching, but hardboard, being stiffer, will give a bit more impact protection, and by fixing it to the surround, you have nothing in contact with the screen itself, so the risk of microscratches caused by particles of dust etc, rubbing the scree with thevibration of the transporter, is reduced.

When I moved house, I wrapped my iMac and TV with a towel, put in the back seat of my car LCD toward the boot, and strapped it in. Easy, safe, no probs.

Put two of the three 17" screens face-to-face and wrap something around to keep them together, then you'll only have the other two exposed screens to worry about.

Don't try to kick them to their destination. It doesn't work with CRTS so I doubt it will work with LCDs.
