Official Announcement #1: Intellitxt
We have been listening to your feedback regards the use of Intellitxt adverts on the main HEXUS site this week and through discussions we have come up with a proposal which we are going to trial.
Therefore we have decided that we will shortly start a three month trial to remove the intellitxt adverts from anyone browsing the site whilst logged into their MyHEXUS account. All you need to do is sign into your MyHEXUS account or register if you don't have one - over the coming days browsing the main site whilst logged in will result in no intellitxt ads being shown. ![]() Now for many of you this will be very good news, and we do hope that it is positively received and works well for our readers. Obviously by completely removing these adverts we lose out on a substantial amount of income to allow us to bring you fresh, innovative and informative news from around the globe on a daily basis so we have to see how this goes and see if the request below has any effect ![]() At the same time we do have a request - as a result of this we would, where possible ask that you add HEXUS onto your whitelist for the normal advertisements - you know the 728 x 90 and the 120 x600 ads that run on the front page of the site. If I see that these ad views go up with this trial then there is more justification of this trial being extended beyond the 3 months we are currently proposing. Sound fair? We hope so, and we hope you keep enjoying the awesome content HEXUS.net keeps delivering, again and again and again. Matt On behalf of Team HEXUS.net Last edited by MD; 20-05-2008 at 01:06 PM.. |

Re: Official Announcement Number One - Intellitxt
Sounds like a fair deal...
I'll certainly do that for my home PC, not sure about work though, it's a crappy old P4 with a tendency to 'splode when it has to do the slightest amount of actual processing. So I pretty much have to turn off all ads and most scripts before I can browse anything at all

Re: Official Announcement Number One - Intellitxt
Thanks Matt (and the rest of the team) - it's always encouraging to see Hexus listening to its readers. It'll be a pleasure to read through articles without the intrusion of intellitxt.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

Re: Official Announcement Number One - Intellitxt
A Whitelist is for when people use Firefox as their browser, then have the (very popular) plug-in called Ad-block (or Ad-block plus) which does what it says on the tin.
A Whitelist is then a list of allowed stuff that get's through the filters.

Re: Official Announcement Number One - Intellitxt
The account you use here on the forums is separate from the MyHEXUS login.
All I can say at this stage is this is the first of many VERY cool features to come into the MyHEXUS system. You can sign up on the right hand side of the HEXUS.net - Definitive Technology News and Reviews homepage for MyHEXUS. Matt |

That I can't answer, i would need to find that out for you - I don't beleive we currently track anything but you will need to wait for DR to answer that question.

Re: Official Announcement #1: Intellitxt
On a more serious note, i only ever had intellitext blocked, all the other adverts don't get in the way, it would be nice to have 1 account instead of 3 (assuming trust isn't liked to myhexus) |
