There is something out there......and other Space skullduggery
So just messing around with the World Wide Telescope when I came upon these. Now slap me with a wet kipper and call me Gungadin but they look remarkably like engineered objects.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So are these Gordon Brown's assisted Housing projects, somewhere for MP's to stash their expense accounts, or something far more sinister and Alien? Note the (relative) proximity of the two objects in the last picture

Re: There is something out there......and other Space skullduggery
Looks like some sort of reflection/aberration. The questions you'd have to ask yourself are; How far away is the object? How big would it have to be to be picked up by the telescope?
I think you'll find that the objects in question would have to be massive in the star/gas giant sense of massive so are more than likely not to be made by intelligence.

Re: There is something out there......and other Space skullduggery
I found them in the program and got a good (bigger) look at them and you can see stars through them, so they're not solid and the bits are a bit too haphazard for them to be useful for anything if they were physical...
I think it's something like a lens-flare, but with parts of the satellite silhouetted and distorted in it. My initial thought was it looked like a reflection of a satellite dish, but I think now it's just a lens-flare. Edit: Now that I've got this program I am feeling very, very, very small! 1.21 GIGAWATTS!!!!!

Re: There is something out there......and other Space skullduggery
Looks like a satellite dish. Does this use the same stiching of digital images that Google Earth does? Then surely it'd be possible for a fast moving satellite to appear blurry/corrupted in the image?

Re: There is something out there......and other Space skullduggery
It's actually capable of zooming in and sharpening up the image quite a lot more than you see there. The first one is actually quite crisp close up and a lot less dish-like too, which is what made me change my mind.

![]() Google Image Result for http://www.tls-tautenburg.de/icons/TAUT04k.JPG if you look here you can see that what you are seeing is the light on the glass at the end of the telescope reflecting light back down the tube and creating a shadow.
