    Musical instruments

i was just wondering how many people on hexus played musical instruments, and if so, what? I'm guessing there'll be quite a few who play guitar, but how many play more "classical" instruments? And what is your fav style of music to play?

I play violin and flute (yeah, heard the american pie jokes to death....). My fave music to play on the violin used to be celtic/scottish traditional music, but i've kinda converted to more classical music. On my flute, i'll play just about anything, from the theme tune from austin powers to the Lakmé flower duet (theme from British Airways ad)

so what do my fellow hexites play?

Over the years I've played Euphonium, Baritone, Trombone, Eb Bass & Bb Bass. All in brass bands of course, always liked playing marches or overtures.

Oh and I played recorder when I was younger. But the best use for that was as a pea-shooter

I "try" to play trumpet, but I'm rubbish, so I'm giving it a wee rest for now. I like playing nice strongly written music, like Sibelius and things like that, and jazz when I can get me head round it I played Tenor horn in the local silver band too until recently - they all turned into gits tho, so I left....

Piano and Saxophone, although I can play others just not that well.
Er mainly famous music on piano, so that people say "hey I know that" when i play it.
    Saxophone: everything and anything really.

I'm a self taught guitarist/vocalist, and I play mostly jazz, but the good metal/rock subgenres, too - hXc, gXc, dXc, sXc, Sludge, Doom, Stoner and Black metal. However! My current music project (A King of Stars in an Empty Night Sky) is a jazz/doom mix. Quite an interesting mixture, which is a pleasure to play..

I've gigged in a few bands, but they were never going in the direction I ultimately wanted, so as soon as I realised it wasn't me, I was out of there.

I'd love to learn to play the piano... my partner and I have sworn to eachother that when we buy our own house, we'll buy a piano, too.

Ohoh! I can play "Hot Cross Buns" on the recorder... through my NOSE!

I play a wicked air guitar!

Nah, seriously, I wish I had a musical talent in me. If I could play an instrument it would be the piano.

If cars had followed the same developmental path as computers, a Rolls Royce would cost £60, get a million miles per gallon and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

I mainly play the Bass - 4 string and 5 string, mainly play rock and prog rock when together with a band although I love playing funk on my own ... I enjoy building up recordings myself . I can play the guitar to an extent, IE bout 15 chords, and can play solos if I practice. Can play the Clarinet, Jazz grade 5 Really enjoy playing upbeat jazz, played in a swing band for 2 years - really enjoyed it. I can play the keyboard (yes - there is a difference to piano) quite well, never played in a band with it though ... great for helping with composition though, love playing 'feel good' songs on the keyboard. I can also play a little of the Sax, flute, recorder (lol) ... although I stay away from anything bowed

I used to play the recorder. I remember I could play it out of my nose in the end!
