    As Samuel Johnson once said
"When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life"
    - really is so much to do and see here.

If as said you want cheap then go here and loads of stuff you can do for under a "Ayton Senna"

I went to Bletchley Park today. The National Computing Museum has now been greatly expanded with loads of cool stuff from the abacus to fairly modern machines (running FSX at 10FPS, lol) and is really worth visiting.

I live about 5 miles from Ullswater and its hard to recommend the Lakes at this time of year as it gets incredibly busy - I prefer it when its cold wet and miserable anyway with all the streams and waterfalls going full on.

Scottish borders is nice as well - places like Melrose and Kelso are lovely spots with plenty of good scenery and historical ruins. From Melrose its only 30 miles or so to Edinburgh if you fancy a day out there. iirc Melrose has about 7 pubs round the town square and you've got Abbotsford, the Abbey, Eildon Hills and loads of other spots nearby.

Dumfries and Galloway never gets a mention but the coast is beautiful with places like Kippford and Rockcliffe
