Anyway, Agent was a SuperMod and is now an Admin. For anyone that wants to know and doesn't already (and someone did ask), Mods have access to the Mod panel and can exercise modding powers in forums for which they're named as Mods. SuperMods have modding powers in all forums .... unless it's explicitly turned off. Admins .... and this may seem like a sarcastic remark but I'll explain in a minute, have access to the Admin panel as well as the Mod panel. But ..... and here's the explanation, exactly which parts of the Admin panel and Admin has access to can be varied. There are some functions that can be done via Admin panel or Mod panel (and sometimes other ways too), like banning. Other functions require Admin access, like unbanning. A full-power admin can control just about any aspect of vBulletin operation or configuration short of those few things that require direct file access on the server, such as installing or upgrading releases. A full Admin can, for instance :- - open or close the entire board - close or restrict new membership applications - create, modify or delete forums - create, modify or delete usergroups - manually create member accounts - create, modify or delete auto-promotion rules that trigger member feature changes on reachng a specified postcount - override account settings, such as decreasing (or increasing postcount), or turning off access to forums, or changing a user's board name - alter the board FAQ, or Notices or Announcements - change search optimisations - run board maintenance or search indexes - access logs - change the parameters of the Reputation system - set up the Thanks system - alter forum access permissions or user masks - change the profile fields we all have in our accounts ....... and so on. There is a VAST amount of difference between the facilities open to an Admin and those open to a mod. Essentially, I suppose, a Mod is concerned with day to day running of the board or sections of it. An Admin does that too, but can also be concerned with structure and configuration of the board, and a whole host of other matters. Noli nothis permittere te terere. ![]() |

| Re: AGENT: Come on Down, the Time iiiiiis right :) NON TECHNICAL UPDATE: ADMIN WORK Well, he's done some good work here And he's done some GREAT work here too. He has done very little average work, and to my knowledge, no bad work. And that's over many YEARS. For NO money. He's a good chap. He has amost as much patience as Yours Truly, but he has vastly more knoweldge that Yours Truly on almost every facet of PC/Hardware/IT so we shall allow his occasional rant ![]() He is also one of the most popular people here....BUT.....now he must harden his resolve, because we may ask him to slap people that previously he has not had to slap. That's often our job. It's hard. Becuase we dont all agree wh needs slapping. It's a TEAM SLAP. It's not an easy job. Me...for example... I need a slap quite alot. I post in thwe wrong place, I spell like a thwaite, I swear occasionally and then I give other people grief for the exact same thing. DR, Moby and Saracen clean up after me, on the whole. Now Agent must too. Up until now he's done it with politeness, and political correctness. Now he can do it with vengeance and with no fear of reprisal. Cos I voted him in. We need him onboard being himself. It makes a good team better. He'l be good. I hope he'll be great. ![]() Agent = Hardware Homosapien | Zak33 = Hardware Homonid - just call me "Lucy" |

| Re: AGENT: Come on Down, the Time iiiiiis right :) Yup, there are 2 sorts of Admins on HEXUS. 1 - Admins. They are Admins and do Admin things. 2 - People who know David. These are Admins in as much as they have orange forum names, but not in any other sense. Zak, so far as I can tell, is an Admin because he knows David. And I, for one, support this insane but workable situation. Everyone needs someone they get on with on the Mod \ Admin team for those moments when something in your e-world has gone tits up. |

| Re: AGENT: Come on Down, the Time iiiiiis right :) Also can I ask Comrade David, or Comrade Zak why Comrade Matt D has been sent to the gulag? Is it all very hush hush? Is that why Adey pants has got a sudden promotion to Jedi Master? |

I dont get paid for my job here, and nor will Agent. Nor Saracen. We do it for love, and for the rampant feeling of powar and orgasmic ability to say.... ![]() Actually, no. Believe it or not, it's a total coincidence. Agent's Adminisation was discussed some months ago, and just got .... ahem .... delayed because, well you see ...... I mean .... oh alright, we forgot. ![]() And then we remembered. Noli nothis permittere te terere. ![]() |
