Gordy proposes logging all phone and internet communications

It simply is not possible to log and index the multi-terrabit levels of traffic that fly through British telecommunication pipes daily. Basically this falls down to yet another labour IT project which will run into hundreds of billions of pounds to plan, and will never be implimented. But it's shocking that they think this is something they can do to its people.
The public would be wise to give Gordy the middle finger come election time. Erm... you mean that the government are going to ADMIT that they're recording all this?
How do you think they catch game pirates and the like? |

Re: Gordy proposes logging all phone and internet communications
Of course they will admit it, else it won't be admissible in court.
They are NOT doing this at the moment, the technicalities of doing so are staggering. |

*They* don't, it's the industry that looks out for that by catching people sharing files on peer to peer networks, it's a completely different means. You don't think the government *really* needs over half your wages to run the country, do you?

There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
Use the best: Linux for servers, Mac for graphics, Windows for Solitaire |

Re: Gordy proposes logging all phone and internet communications
Very, very different. *Everything* gets logged, all your kinky emails, text, and phone calls to/from your girlfriend/wife/whoever, all your internet database transfers, all your peer to peer usage, all your web browsing, all the software you download, your entire life will be logged, catalogged, and left accessable by practically any civil servant.

Do they need to? If they know where you go, what you spend your money on and what you think, you're already pwned

Re: Gordy proposes logging all phone and internet communications
Wow.... whats the point? it will give the advantage to criminals really because all the data will be stored and then the gov will LOSE it just like they have lost atleast 1 piece of important information in alot of departments, i think last week a pen drive with all the prisoners in prison were lost(this isnt damaging but still worrying). What happened to privacy? its just as bad a phorm, perhaps they will use this now? we will get all our credit card details etc etc lost by them every year if they get away with this.
Whose up for killing gordy? i didnt mind him at first, i gave him the benefit of the doubt because of all the issues starting just as he gets prime minister e.g. flooding/increased prices and america failing. This is just to far .

Re: Gordy proposes logging all phone and internet communications
It's not ISP level, it's infrastructure level. We're not talking about some company greasing the palms of your ISP to get them to break the law so they can sell off your personal info based on your browsing habits. We're talking about the government wanting to store *everything*.
